Hectronic USA Corp. has introduced the new parking team of its subsidiary, Hectronic-USA in Chesapeake/Virginia: Kevin Woznicki, President; Christopher Perry, Chief Financial Officer; Steve Snyder and David Cooker, Strategic Account Representatives; and Kris Slipek, Technical Project Manager. In its first commercial activity, the company announced that after a competitive bid process, New Canaan, CT decided on Hectronic as their meter provider to replace the town’s aging multi-space meters. “After reviewing all options, we decided to go with Hectronic’s Citea paystation” stated Karen Miller, the city’s parking administrator. “Hectronic’s responsiveness, preparation, and overall value to the town was what separated the Citea machine from its competition..” Also, the City of Waterbury, CT has chosen Hectronic US as its supplier for multi-space meters after a competitive RFP process. After an exhaustive search and specific sets of criteria, Hectronic was chosen as the winner in the bidding.
Perry Griffith, a scion of the family’s Denison Parking empire, has handed the CEO reins to the executive who helped him expand the Indianapolis company to 10 other states in as many years. President and COO Mark Pratt is assuming the role of CEO from Griffith, who remains Chairman of the board. Griffith said the change affirms Denison’s ambitions to grow — albeit carefully — in other markets, possibly including collegiate and municipal venues.

The Pennsylvania Parking Association (PPA) recognized the firm for the design of two mixed-use projects: Atlantic City’s The Wave, an 1,180-space parking garage with 16,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, owned by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority; and the Queen Street Station mixed-use and 395-space parking facility, owned by the Red Rose Transit Authority, in Lancaster, PA. In other news, Timothy Haahs, PE, AIA, President of TimHaahs, has been appointed to the March of Dimes Board of Directors for the 20th Transportation, Building & Construction Awards Luncheon. As a board member, he will join other industry leaders to serve on behalf of the firm.
The Fast Park family of off-site airport parking companies, with 16 facilities in 12 markets, collected more than 5,700 pounds of food in support of National Hunger Action Month this fall. All donations benefit local food bank members of Feeding America, the largest such network in the country. The company also matched dollar for every dollar or pound of non-perishable food donated by customers. This year, a total of $6,626 was given to the food bank network.

Park New Haven, which maintains and manages more than 8,000 public parking spaces across seven garages and numerous surface facilities in Downtown New Haven, CT, has added a valet parking service for customers at Union Station. Those traveling on Amtrak and Metro-North trains into New Haven will be able to send a text message ahead of their arrival to the new “Rapid Return” line and have their vehicle waiting for them when they arrive The program is a joint effort between the Connecticut Department of Transportation, which owns the station, and Park New Haven, which maintains and operates the property.

Loma Linda University has kicked-off its $800-million capital improvement program with construction of a new seven-level, 1,171-stall parking structure on its campus in Loma Linda, Calif. (near the city of San Bernardino). Anaheim Hills, Calif.-based Bomel Construction began the construction phase in October and will have the garage completed at the end of next year. In addition, Aladdin Development of Beverly Hills, Calif., has completed an expansion of a parking structure near San Diego International Airport. Bomel Construction Co. added 502 stalls to a 30-year-old structure with 1,542 stalls. The expanded garage has three levels above grade, two below grade and three entrance and exit points. In other Bomel news, Farmers Insurance recently completed a four-level parking structure with 405 stalls at its Woodland Hills operation. The garage replaces a surface parking lot that had about 140 stalls. The 122,000-sq.-ft., garage was built to accommodate about 400 employees who relocated from the Simi Valley office. There are more than 1,000 Farmers’ employees working in the 10-story office building on Owensmouth Avenue.
