John A. Manno Jr., VP of Southland Printing, and his wife, Lynne, of Shreveport, LA, were honored late last year as Outstanding Philanthropist in North Louisiana by the North Louisiana Association of Fundraising Professionals. The Northwestern State University Foundation nominated them for the award. The Manno family company, Southland Printing, has over the years supported charitable organizations such as the Volunteers of America and the Northwest Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross, as well as educational institutions including Louisiana State University, Centenary College of Louisiana and Northwestern State University (NSU) in Natchitoches. Southland also is invested in cultivating the local arts, having provided donations to the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra and The Strand Theatre. John Manno has served on the NSU Foundation Board of Directors and has further shown his generosity by establishing scholarships to assist NSU students, as well as by serving as Chairman of the university’s most recent capital campaign, which closed in 2012 with a record of more than $36 million dedicated.to supporting NSU’s educational mission.
