The 601 Travis Street Garage, a premier parking structure in Houston managed by Hines Interests, consists of 12 stories of parking with a total of 2,194 spaces. The garage offers monthly contract parking to more than 2,300 parkers, both lease tenants of the Chase Tower across the street and other downtown area workers. Some 1,656 spaces are set aside for unreserved monthly parking or transient (visitor) parking, and charged an hourly rate.
Los Rios Community College District, Watry Design and Webcor Builders recently opened the new five-level, 1,724-stall American River College Parking Structure in Sacramento, CA. The companies were awarded this project based on the unique design that the team developed from the college’s vision for the site. Said Architect and Project Manager Genaro Morales: “It was important for the college that this project did not look like a parking structure, but rather would make a striking architectural statement that connects with its surroundings.”

The technological upgrades include a customized mobile parking app for smartphones and tablets, along with a new client website for ease of service across all 2,000 ABM-operated parking locations in the US. It partnered with ParkMe to create the customized mobile application, which gives clients access to ABM’s parking database, providing real-time parking availability based on location, price, vehicle type and garage occupancy.

The City of Fort Worth, TX, reported a successful first year for its parking paystations from Parkeon. Convenience and better access were the goals when the new paystations were installed across the city. A review on the one-year anniversary shows that the program has increased parking revenue (up 11%), while decreasing citation revenue (down 15%). City parking officials said a driving force behind those statistics is the paystations — now totaling 85 in operation, managing more than 600 on-street spaces in the heart of Fort Worth.

Carl Walker, Inc. will provide both parking consulting and structural engineering services. The parking structure will be a stand-alone above grade structure. It will provide 400 parking spaces over multiple levels and will be built using a long-span cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structural system.
