Parkeon announced in mid-September that it had successfully launched its mobile parking service in the U.S. Named Whoosh!, the service made its U.S. debut Aug. 19 in Syracuse, NY. Whoosh! has been in operation in more than 50 sites in France and the UK.
The Whoosh! app allows users to pay for their parking time through their phones, tablets or computers. Available on the App Store and Google Play Store, it also can be accessed through the website www.whooshstore.com.
“Whooshers” can receive a time-expiration notification and extend their time remotely to avoid receiving a parking citation.
The app features a friendly user interface with multiple options to select a meter or zone. Users can make their selection through a map view or list view, both linked to the GPS coordinates of the meters in the local area. Meter/zone selection also can be made via manual input of the meter or zone code.
The stand-alone system is available to Parkeon customers already using the company’s multi-space parking meters, as well as to non-Parkeon customers who use other metered parking systems.
