The well-known parking technology professional is an authority on the integration, design, procurement and implementation of complex on- and off-street parking systems. In his new position, he will promote, grow, and develop Sentry’s product lines in San Diego and Orange County, CA.
Code Blue Corp. has completed a $400,000, 1,500-square-foot expansion of its paint booth facilities, which will “further strengthen its reputation for providing industry-leading emergency communication solutions.” The investment includes new equipment and infrastructure enhancements at its 34,000-square-foot facility at corporate headquarters in Holland, MI.
With the collaboration of ParkHelp, the city of Málaga, Spain, becomes the first from the world scene with an intelligent guidance system in all regulated on-street parking spaces. This is the first plan on a large scale in the guidance systems market, with more than 2,200 parking spaces geared to the optimization of the management of public space and the streamlining of the parking process.
Carl Walker Inc. recently completed a downtown parking analysis and management plan for the City of Neenah, WI. It has a relatively small downtown with a large amount of daytime office employment in its office buildings. While recent economic development activity has been positive for the city, downtown merchants and restaurants were starting to voice concerns about daytime office employees encroaching on prime on-street customer parking areas. In other news, the City of Eau Claire, WI, retained the firm to conduct an evaluation of its current parking operation to determine how much parking will be needed to support current and future development activity. The study also included structural condition evaluations of the two existing municipal parking structures. Also, the final deliverables included a comprehensive parking strategy to guide downtown parking planning and management efforts over the next five years.
OmniPark and IntegraPark will be integrating their products as they roll out a permit verification system for Federal Parking in Baltimore. It currently uses IntegraPark’s Paris software for permitting, and will join forces with OmniPark to verify and enforce its permit holders.
Reginald D. Randolph, a fixture at Houston First Theater District Parking facilities for more than two decades, has been promoted to the top spot at the 3,400-car downtown garage. He succeeds Lannie Lesher, who retired in February after 24 years as Director of Parking. “This is a well-deserved promotion,” said Mario Ariza, Chief Operating Officer for Houston First Theaters. He added that Randolph’s understanding of today’s parking technologies and trends in commuting has long been his strong suit.
Walker Parking Consultants has begun design of a new 1,795-space parking structure at Denver International Airport (DIA). Development of the four-story facility, at Jappesen Terminal, will use the design-build approach in one of the largest such parking projects ever developed at a U.S. airport. Walker will serve as the designer, with construction overseen by Swinerton Builders. Completion of the $46 million project is expected in summer 2016.

The company is the first and only one in the parking industry in Canada that has been able to achieve this certification process of Chase Paymentech EMV contactless solutions, using ID Tech ViVOpay Kiosk II and Tender Retail middleware. In other news, HUB also is the first and only parking company in Canada to be certified by Moneris for its Contact EMV Solutions, using VeriFone Ux300 Terminals and MSC Direct connect solution.

Parsons Brinckerhoff is providing engineering and construction-related services for a new parking garage and an expansion of the terminal B parking garage at Logan International Airport. The project, which is being carried out on behalf of the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), encompasses fast-track planning, design, and construction support for a multi-level parking deck to be built over the existing Hilton Hotel parking lot, as an extension of the existing west garage. The facility will feature direct circulation between the existing garage and the Hilton Hotel, as well as architectural façade panels, LED lighting, dynamic smart-parking signage, landscaping, and other sustainable and resilient features.

Carl Walker, Inc., is currently wrapping up the design of a 918-space parking structure at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus in Maryland. Other design team members include ATM Engineering, Cho Benn Holback Architects, Core Studio Design, ECS Limited and RMF Engineering. The new parking structure will help develop a new campus presence on the north end of campus, highlighted with an attractive architectural facade. The parking structure is estimated to be completed by 2016. The Rockville campus will remain open to students, faculty, and staff throughout construction.

The City is implementing a new Pay by Space parking system delivered by Parkeon. Parkeon and its local distribution provider, Keystone Solutions and Integrations, will be installing 50 new solar powered parking kiosks. The kiosks are very user friendly, featuring a 7” full color display screen, quickly guiding users through their parking transactions. Customers will have the option of receiving a proof of payment receipt at the end of their transaction, a feature that was not available on the kiosks being replaced.
