The German Parking Association Bundesverband Parken e.V. will host the 17th European Parking Association (EPA) Congress, in conjunction with the trade exhibition Parken 2015, on Sept. 23-25 in the Estrel Convention Center in Berlin.
The EPA says its program promises an interesting assortment of issues in the parking industry. This year’s theme revolves around “Parking in the World of Tomorrow.”
Two keynote presentations ring in the first day.
Professor Petra Schäfer of Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences will offer a comparative research of parking policies in European cities. CEO Ralf Bender of Apcoa Parking Holdings GmbH will discuss the challenges of the digitalization process and the role of the parking operator.
Afterwards, the winners of the prestigious EPA awards in the categories new construction, renovations, on-street parking, innovation and marketing will be announced.
The second day is dedicated to the topics “Parking in urban mobility” and “Parking in the digital age.” Practical examples from the cities of Barcelona, Krakow and Amsterdam serve as illustrations.
Also, the EU-funded project “Push and Pull,” about parking management and incentives as successful and proven strategies for energy-efficient urban transport, will be introduced.
New technologies for payment processes as well as real-time parking data management are two other featured topics. The day ends with a presentation on the EPA’s contribution to current developments.
On the third day, sessions will focus on “Parking and Human Behavior” “Car Drivers’ Expectations.” Also featured is an International Round Table discussion, in cooperation with POLIS Network, on the function of parking management for improvement of quality of life in European cities.
The Congress fees also include a visit of the Parken show, the only German trade exhibition that exclusively covers the planning, construction and operating of parking areas.
