UK-based Northgate Public Services has launched NPS TaP, a secure, mobile and “cloud-based” enforcement and permits management solution being offered to providers including local authorities, housing associations and hospitals.
The company says the move opens up new markets for NPS, which builds and runs some of the UK’s largest transport and ticketing programs, including the HGV Levy, the national Blue Badge scheme and London Tribunals.
NPS TaP is designed to offer significant efficiency gains and cost savings by delivering through mobile devices such as smartphones and on common IT infrastructure. Alongside self-service permit application pages, “public online payment and appeals pages” enable the automation of Penalty Charge Notice payment collections and the processing of appeals information relating to PCNs.
Also, the NPS TaP-In mobile app is available for the issuing of printed tickets and validating paper or virtual permits.
The company says, “Our experience building and running some of the UK’s most complex permit management [programs] has given us great insight into building robust, safe and efficient ticketing systems. We know how they work, and we know exactly how to use the technology – be it “cloud” or mobile devices – to keep efficiency up and costs down.”
