We at Parking Concepts Inc. (PCI) regret to inform the parking industry that Mr. Kermit Kingsbury, Vice President, passed away July 3, following a brief, yet courageous, battle with a very aggressive form of cancer.
Kermit has been an integral part of the PCI family since joining our team in 1987.
During much of his tenure, Kermit was chiefly responsible for the Los Angeles, Orange County and Northern California markets. His expert knowledge and innovative thought process helped to expand the reach of PCI with the addition of numerous parking locations in commercial office facilities and medical properties, hotel and even regional parks management.
Amazingly, Kermit still found time to develop new opportunities for PCI in establishing our successful Transportation and Airport Valet Parking Divisions!
After decades of service to PCI in his executive role, Kermit elected to retire from his full-time position in 2012 to Indio, CA with his wife, Sydney. However, he continued to oversee our growing Northern California Division, as well as take on various special projects for the company in between well-deserved rounds of golf at his new home.
We understand these were the very best years he and Sydney shared together.
Kermit was the whole package! His ability to personally guide our employees and communicate effectively with our clients is a skill set that no one will ever match.
He had a great understanding of the requirements and benefits in the technological changes in parking revenue control equipment in our industry. In fact, he integrated the very first, fully automated, parking access and revenue control system (PARCS) in Orange County, CA – well ahead of the curve.
Kermit was highly regarded and respected by all who knew him. His industry reach was huge, as he was highly involved with the National Parking Association, the California Parking Association and the Building Owners & Managers Association, to name a few. The NPA would frequently enlist his expertise to speak at the national conventions on various topics.
Kermit is survived by his wife, Sydney, their three sons and extended families.
All of us at PCI will miss his leadership and his calming presence.
