Parking Today met up with Barry Davis and Phil Sirois in the Magnetic automation booth at the IPMI in June. They announced their pending retirement from the industry. They noted they had personally experienced many positive people and things as the parking industry has grown in its application, technology and ability to improve everyone’s daily lives.
Phil was a tad reluctant to expand on his successes, but we learned he served in the Coast Guard, graduated college with an Engineering degree and went to work for Schlumberger in the oil and gas fields. He transferred into their retail petroleum sales group and eventually into the Parking and Transit Division. Phil has over twenty years of Parking Industry experience via Schlumberger, Parkeon, Metric and Magnetic Automation.
Barry started his parking career with Schlumberger after 14 years in computer service and management. He was transferred into the Parking and Transit Division from the CAD/CAM side of the company. His career has followed revenue control for both on and off-street applications, including single space meters, multi space (P&D, PBS and PBP), gated systems, and most recently, one of the leading vehicle barriers on the market, Magnetic.
“I have had the opportunity to work for many industry leaders and utilized each step to further my knowledge regarding equipment and application. The most important thing I learned was to listen to the client to hear their concerns and issues about the problems they face daily to make their community a better place to live and work,” Barry said.
