ParkMobile, a provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in North America and part of EasyPark Group, announced a partnership with Flash, a provider of parking and electric vehicle charging solutions. ParkMobile and Flash are developing a unified network that simplifies the driver experience of finding, reserving, and paying for parking. This will allow the companies’ combined millions of drivers the option to utilize the digital wallet of choice at any parking facility type, including valet parking, parking garages, off-street parking locations, and on-street spaces. This year, ParkMobile and Flash will share parking reservation inventory and infrastructure and collaborate on expanding digital payment choice at thousands of parking locations across North America. In 2025, the companies will work together to help drivers by making pricing information transparent and making it easier to pay using the wallet of their choice, aided by camera vision, smart artificial-intelligence-driven recommendations, and other technologies.
ParkMobile, also entered into a strategic partnership with the City of Hallandale Beach, Florida. As a result, the ParkMobile app will be available for on-demand parking at 1,297 on-street and off-street parking spaces throughout the city.
Flowbird Group, a provider of curbside management and mobility systems, announced its partnership with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) to enhance parking for commuters using the authority’s approximately 25,000 parking spaces spread across its 138 facilities, including 87 paid surface lots and 3 garages. The SEPTA Park App is available to download on the Apple Store and Google Play. The new parking kiosks began to be rolled out gradually, starting on September 23. The implementation was to follow a phased approach, with six commuter lots being introduced to the new system every two workdays over the span of seven weeks. This phased rollout was expected to be completed by November 7, 2024.
Flowbird, in collaboration with its operational partner City Parking Group S.A. (CPG), announced the signing of a 10-year contract with the City of Warsaw, Poland. The project will see the deployment and maintenance of 1,910 Strada S5 machines within Warsaw’s Paid Parking Zone.
The global investment firm KKR announced that it acquired The Parking Spot (TPS), an owner and operator of 47 near-airport parking properties, from an affiliate of Green Courte
Partners, LLC, a private equity real estate investment firm. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Portier USA, the U.S. branch of the parking guidance technology provider Portier, announced that Steve Gorski has joined the company as vice president. In his new role, the parking and mobility industry veteran will oversee Portier’s operations throughout the United States. Gorski previously served as chief executive officer (CEO) of U.S. operations for DESIGNA, a provider of fully automated parking systems, and U.S. managing director for Cleverciti, a mobility management technology provider. Prior to that, he was U.S. managing director for TKH Security, a manufacturer of security, video, and parking guidance technology.
Parking management company Propark Mobility announced that it has acquired Southern Valet & Transportation, a provider of valet, transportation, and parking management services in South Carolina.
Jesse Rush was named administrator of the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) and Director of the Public Transportation and Parking Department for the City of Oklahoma City. Rush replaced Jason Ferbrache, who served in a dual role as an assistant city manager and the director of the Public Transportation and Parking Department since 2022. Ferbrache will continue in his role as assistant city manager.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is streamlining parking operations on campus with the help of Modii, a provider of digital parking and mobility solutions. This partnership aims to enhance the parking experience for both drivers and administrators while alleviating the stress associated with parking on campus. Students, faculty, and visitors can use the UWM Parking Finder to find available parking spots based on their permit types, time of day, and current lot availability, as well as receive real-time updates on parking changes due to campus events. For administrators, Modii provides an integrated system that consolidates all parking-related data into a single, accessible database.
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University announced the launch of the NCAT Park app, powered by parking app provider ParkZen. Designed exclusively for the North Carolina A&T community, the app enables users to locate available parking spots near their destinations, send reminders about where their vehicle is parked, and submit feedback to enhance parking services.
Parkin Company, a provider of paid public parking facilities and services in Dubai, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Skyports Infrastructure, a developer of vertiport infrastructure for the advanced air mobility (AAM) industry. AAM is a new transportation concept that uses electric take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to transport people and cargo quickly and efficiently. Access and parking at relevant vertiport sites will be facilitated by the implementation of Parkin’s capabilities in access control technologies, payment systems, and enforcement.
Toledo Ticket Technologies, which specializes in a variety of parking and ticketing solutions, announced the hiring of Brian Tipping as its new president and the promotion of Tara Cline to the vice president of operations position. Tipping serves as the first non-family member to occupy this role in the company’s 114 years. Thomas Carter, the company’s CEO and former president, will remain as CEO while Tipping assumes the presidential role. In her role, Cline completes contracts for Toledo Ticket’s national accounts, manages the office, and oversees operations of the company’s facility in Toledo, Ohio.
Outpost, a network of truck terminals and fleet yard facilities, announced the addition of four new locations to its nationwide network. The properties — located in Chicago; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Fontana, California; and Laredo, Texas — strengthen Outpost’s presence in critical logistics hubs across the United States, bringing online nearly 60 acres of industrial outdoor storage with more than 1,700 semi-truck parking spaces.
Sydney Airport, in Sydney, Australia, recently upgraded its parking infrastructure with the ticketless hybrid system from DESIGNA. This new system, hosted on Sydney Airport’s servers, is designed to streamline parking, enhance user convenience, and integrate seamlessly with other airport services. Phase one of the upgrade program will begin in late 2024, with the completion of the new systems across all car parks scheduled by the fourth quarter of 2025.
Passport, a provider of parking compliance and curbside payment solutions, announced the appointment of Adam Kriegel as vice president of business development and channel partnerships. On September 24, the Seattle City Council in Seattle, Washington, passed legislation to allow the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) to develop a Music Venue Zone Permit and establish “Music Venue Zones.” Intended to prioritize parking for musicians and their crews at qualifying live music venues, the permits create up to three spaces per venue and allow for parking and loading 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while displaying a valid permit. Vehicles without permits could be ticketed and towed.
