A note about Vail

A note about Vail

I picked up a short article today about Vail, Co, parking and it reminded me of one of the first articles we did in Parking Today, almost 10 years ago.

I went up to check out the newfangled Pay and Display operation there and found one of the most exotic parking payment collection operations anywhere.  They used pay and display, meters, on street permits, in car meters, debit cards sold by the city and pay on exit at the local garage.

I was told that the goal was to provide the most convenient parking solutions for the thousands of visitors to the resort city, and to ensure that residents had flexible parking payment solutions, too.

They certainly were certainly on the cutting edge of parking enforcement, and from what I hear, continue to be so today.
