Q-Free TCS, a system integrator that specializes in designing intelligent parking transportation systems, has appointed Kelly Myers as its Regional Manager for the Western U.S.. ParkHelp U.S.A., a provider of technology solutions for increasing mobility within parking systems, has added two parking industry sales executives to its sales team. Scott Fox will lead sales activities in the Eastern Region, and Michael Harlow in the Western Region. “Their efforts will enable us to reach even more customers who will benefit from the parking guidance technology we offer,” said Michael Civitelli, Managing Director.

Total Parking Solutions (TPS) has been awarded a contract by the City of Aurora, IL, for one of the first municipal pay-by-plate applications in the Midwest. TPS will utilize CWT meters by Cale, which will integrate with the city’s existing LPR system for enforcement, as well as offer an integrated mobile pay solution. The new installation will serve commuter and theater venue patrons for the city, and will reduce enforcement time and allow for better resource management.
Code Blue Corp., a manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, and Vigitron Inc., a leading manufacturer of video transmission solutions for IP and analog security systems, have announced a strategic partnership to improve the networking of emergency communication systems. Also, the company has integrated its ToolVox X3 systems management platform with the Milestone System XProtect video surveillance software to monitor the health of emergency speakerphones.
Parkopedia, a parking information provider, has launched its parking service in Latin America, which includes an exclusive partnership with Estapar (Latin America’s largest parking operator based in Brazil), as well as an in-car parking service in the region for BMW ConnectedDrive. “We recognize the importance of the emerging Latin American markets, especially in relation to their growth in car use,” said Marketing Director Christina Onesirosan Martinez.

LaMar Lighting Co. has received Underwriters Laboratories approval to offer many of its recessed fluorescent fixtures with various types of modular LED light engines. With one of the broadest product lines in the industry, LaMar can now factory-install LED engines in most of its linear fluorescent fixtures, including surface- and pendant-mount luminaires, through the LED Express capability.

Parkeon, a global provider of urban mobility solutions for the parking and transit industries, and Schweers Technologies, a market leader in providing tools for professional law enforcement, have developed a pay-by-space parking integration designed to help PEOs quickly move from checking the status of a parking space to writing a citation. 

Jeff Pattman, Supervisor of Public Works for the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, recently announced that a new service, offered by the pay-by-cell parking service provider MobileNOW!, will enable users to pay for parking with their mobile phones in the NJ Transit commuter rail lots. “Residents and commuters alike are invited to register in advance online at mobile-now.com, via the MobileNOW! app, on-site by scanning a QR Code, or by calling the local pay-by-cell phone number posted on lot signs and decals,” Pattman said.

The One-Touch Parking solution, developed by ParkJockey as a time-saving and eco-friendly parking locator and reservation tool, is now available in Chicago. The no-cost mobile application reduces the time spent searching for a spot by providing parking locations, estimates walking distances and even learns parking-specific preferences so users can make an informed reservation, pay in advance, and seamlessly sync their reservation with their calendar.
Complus Data Innovations (CDI), a provider of parking enforcement technology and citation processing solutions, has welcomed the Community College of Baltimore County, MD, as a new client.  CDI provided handheld ticket writers for parking enforcement, tracking software, real-time reporting, DMV lookups, delinquent noticing and web-based payments. CDI also has named Amie Devero as Vice President, Business Development, responsible for sales leadership and driving new revenue.

Walker Parking Consultants has named Casey Wagner, PE, as Senior Vice President. Continuing as Managing Principal of the firm’s Houston office, he will serve as Western Regional Leader, supervising its Houston, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco offices. Wagner also was named to the firm’s Board of Directors.

QuikPark LAX, a new 2,500-stall off-airport parking facility in LA, has selected Sentry Control Systems to install Skidata for its parking access & revenue control system (PARCS). The installation consists of eight lanes (four in, four out) with a credit card in/out option (ticketless). QuikPark, a subsidiary of Ace Parking, holds 20-plus years of experience in off-airport parking. The new 24 hour facility, conveniently located within half a block from LAX, offers valet and self-parking, with free shuttle service to and from the airport. Sentry Control Systems also has completed a Skidata PARCS installation at the Aquarium of The Pacific in Long Beach, CA. The fourth-most-attended aquarium in the nation (1.5 million visitors annually), it displays more than 11,000 animals in more than 50 exhibits.
Cale America, a leader in unattended payment solutions, notes that its distribution partner, Total Parking Solutions, now has more than 60 municipal, campus and private parking operators utilizing more than 500 paystations manufactured by Cale to collect parking and transit fees. MobileNOW! will launch a mobile payment pilot program in Hartford, CT, in conjunction with Propark America. It will include several locations and serve as a platform for rapid nationwide deployment, the companies said. “Our strategy for early adoption to grow the use of mobile payment as an added convenience to all Propark patrons is to provide a great payment option that is unmatched in the parking industry,” said John Oglesby, MobileNOW! President and COO.

Ryan Carris, P.E., has joined the Chicago-area office of Carl Walker Inc. as a member of its restoration group. With more than 15 years of experience, he will serve as Senior Project Manager, with expertise in the restoration of parking structures.
Bird B Gone Inc., the world’s larger manufacturer of professional bird control products for commercial, industrial and residential applications, has been granted Patent Number U.S. 2014/0224171 A1 for its Repeller 360° bird deterrent. The wind-powered device is designed to provide an effective and humane solution for deterring pest birds  with its 6-foot diameter swath, keeping them from perching and loitering.

Guillermo Leiva, a former Assistant Commissioner at the NYC Department of Transportation, has joined PangoUSA as Senior VP of Operations. The company also added two Area Sales Directors: David Holler, a former Complus Data Innovations executive, based in New York City; and Janell Simmons,  a former Regional Sales Manager for ABM Parking Services, based in Houston.

Dur-A-Flex Inc., a leader in commercial, industrial and institutional seamless/high performance polymer flooring and wall systems, is again expanding its operations. President and COO Peter V. Ferris signed a lease in July for an 11,000-square-foot facility in Bensenville, IL. “Our decision to develop a third facility in the Midwest is on target with our continued focus on … our drive for continuous improvement with operating efficiencies,” he said. The new facility will offer space for its product inventory, a design center showcasing floor samples and a dedicated staff.
