The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named MaxLite a 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year. The EPA recognized the company for demonstrating exemplary commitment and dedication to energy efficiency through the development and education of energy-efficient lighting solutions. The award was presented to MaxLite CEO and President Yon Sung at late April ceremony in Washington, DC.

Jennifer Woodyatt has joined Parking BOXX, a manufacturer of PARC systems, as Business Development Coordinator. She will be responsible for co-developing and implementing strategic sales and marketing initiatives.

Walker Parking Consultants has been awarded a contract by Aramco Overseas Co. to prepare a parking master plan and conceptual design for a major parking facility for the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The facility will provide public parking for its educational, performance and research venues.

Two FastPark locations near George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston combined into one facility in mid-March. Branded FastPark & Relax, it includes a newly constructed and more easily accessible entrance at 6633 Will Clayton Parkway.

Propark America and Building and Land Technology (BLT) has opened the Harbor Point Gateway Garage in Stamford, CT. The national parking management company oversees operations at the state-of-the-art facility, developed by BLT. It serves the Stamford Transportation Center, Downtown Stamford and Harbor Point.

Parkeon Inc., a global leader in urban mobility solutions for the parking and transit industries, has presented achievement awards to two of its distribution partners: Devo & Associates, for Top Sales Performance in 2013; and Traffic Solutions and Design, Most Advanced Parking System, for its implementation at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Innovators from Acuity Brands, Cushman & Wakefield, BMW iVentures, the San Francisco MTA and the American Academy of Ophthalmology led a “Green Parking: Enabling Sustainable Urban Mobility” workshop March 26 at The Bently Reserve in San Francisco. It was the latest in a series of “innovation acceleration salons” hosted by the Green Parking Council.

Fay, Spofford & Thorndike (FST), which specializes in engineering and planning services, has acquired the Norfolk Ram Group (NRG), an 18-person environmental engineering, consulting and project management firm in Plymouth, MA. Celebrating its 100th year in business in 2014, Burlington, MA-based FST now has nearly 300 employees in nine offices throughout the Northeast.

Green Courte Partners, a private equity real estate investment firm focused on building industry-leading companies within niche real estate sectors, has promoted Matthew J. Pyzyk and Chad V. Gardner to Vice President. Pyzyk will continue his efforts to acquire land-lease/manufactured housing communities and focus on investment opportunities. As a VP and Portfolio Controller, Gardner will have increased responsibilities related to management of fund-level accounting, financial reporting and forecasting.

Just the physical/occupational therapy clinic at the new 500,000-square-foot Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton alone cares for more than 75,000 patient visits each year. That large volume of outpatient visits made parking a crucial concern. Power management company Eaton has announced that the McGraw-Edison TopTier light-emitting diode (LED) parking garage and canopy luminaire and the Galleon LED area luminaire from its Cooper Lighting Division have been recognized in the 2013 Next Generation Luminaires Solid-State Lighting Design Outdoor Competition. It recognizes and promotes excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED commercial lighting luminaires, also awarded TopTier the additional designation of Best in Class.

MaxLite has received the 2014 Top Products Award, from Building Operating Management (BOM) magazine, for its Direct Lit LED Flat Panel Performance Series. The BOM Top Products is an awards program that recognizes the year’s most popular, useful and innovative products as deemed by building owners and facilities management professionals in a nationwide survey. Readers selected from 465 products, and the top 15% were selected and featured in the February 2014 magazine issue and on www.facilitiesnet.com.
The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) has been formally accredited as a Standards Developer by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), making PCI the only ANSI-accredited Standards Developer dedicated to precast concrete structures and systems. The accreditation allows PCI’s voluntary consensus documents relating to the design, detailing, fabrication, transportation and erection of precast and precast/prestressed concrete to be registered as American National Standards.
 
Build a Better Burb, the online journal of suburban design, has named Miami Beach as April’s Editor’s Design Choice, for contributing to the innovation of garages by embracing stylish, architect-designed, parking structures. “What’s happening now is similar to what happened in the Art Deco period, when the city developed a collaborative of architects who played off one another’s designs,” said William Cary, Assistant Director of the city’s Planning Department.

Zenitel AS recently announced a partnership with Skidata, an international leader in the field of access solutions and visitor management. Its Stentofon brand audio communication solutions will integrate with Skidata parking devices for bi-directional communication between operators and customers. “Stentofon’s 65 years’ experience in providing high-end audio communications and Skidata’s market-leading systems allow for optimal security and access solutions,” said Robert Weiskopf, Skidata Senior VP.
