Parkeon has completed its most recent installation in Texas – 80 pay-and-display paystations for the city of Fort Worth. This installation is the company’s third major on-street installation in Texas, following its 700-unit installation in Austin and its 130-unit installation in San Antonio.
In March 2011, Fort Worth issued an RFP with the goal of offering multiple payment options for downtown parking. After reviewing bids from 11 companies and interviewing the finalists, city officials chose Parkeon as its preferred vendor. Parking Manager Peter Elliott said, “We selected Parkeon because of its strong reputation and experience in working with cities such as ours, as well as the quality and value of its products.”
Residents and visitors to the “City of Cowboys and Culture” will enjoy the ability to pay with either coins or credit cards at the Parkeon Strada paystations. This will be a welcome improvement, officials said, because many meters in Forth Worth are set at $1.25 per hour. Motorists will be able to take their P-and-D receipt from one parking space to another as long as it is valid, encouraging people to stay in the downtown area.
