Renewz Sustainable Solutions has completed its state-of-the-art Isola solar-powered carport at the Battery Innovation Center in Newberry, IN, next to the U.S. Navy’s largest battery-testing and research base. Developed by the company, the system combines U.S.-made electrical equipment from Eaton with efficiency solar panel technology from Silfab.
Nominated by the Obama administration, Timothy Haahs, PE, AIA, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences. Some of its recent accomplishments include development of the Building Research Information Knowledgebase, an online portal providing access to peer-reviewed building research and case studies; and Hazus, a national software system at FEMA that estimates potential building and infrastructure losses from natural disasters.
Propark America has made several management changes. Tim Maloney has been named EVP, National Sales. He will concentrate on coordinating and implementing national sales strategies, development and management of key customer relationships, and collaborating with our regional offices to address new business opportunities. Nate Phillips has been promoted to Senior VP, West Region. He will oversee and direct all facets of the operational activities in the region, as well as business development, client relationship extension and account retention. Luis Garcia has been promoted to Regional Manager. As a member of the West Region’s operations team, he will provide direct oversight of all operational activities associated with assigned locations.
Metric Group, a UK-based manufacturer of pay-and-display machines, has received two orders from Latvia and another from its agent in Switzerland. The most recent is for 66 card-only Elite machines for the Riga area and another for Daugavpils. Its Swiss agent, Taxomex, also has ordered 40 P&D machines.
Parkeon has completed installation of 32 pay-and-display parking meters in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Renowned for its skiing, water sports and casinos, the resort town has had major parking problems. In May 2013, after “trialing” three of the solar-powered meters, City Council gave approval to implement the paid parking system citywide.

Tidewater Software Solutions has released Tidewater Tracker, its Software Management System developed for the RedStorm 2.0 parking guidance system (PGS) manufactured by Trans-Tech. The web-based software allows customers to manage the PGS remotely from the convenience of their desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone.
The Green Parking Council (GPC) has awarded a 2013 Pioneer Award for Sustainability to Mark Muglich, President of ABM Parking Services (formerly Ampco System Parking); and to Gary Cudney, President and CEO of Carl Walker Inc. The GPC sustainability award honors leaders of the parking industry’s transition to an environmentally conscious business model.
MHA Lighting, continuing its rapid growth in 2013, has appointed an Operations Director, a Field Sales Manager and five new production staff. Ian Kane will be looking after all aspects of operations, and the sales team has added “lighting star” Leah Hartley. Parking Concepts Inc. (PCI) has been selected to operate four parking facilities, totaling 2,164 spaces, for the city of Beverly Hills, CA. Included in this five-year contract is the provision of valet parking services for the new Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, scheduled to open in October 2013. PCI also will provide monthly parking billing services for all facilities that the city will continue to operate.
Carl Walker Inc., a nationally recognized consultant in the parking industry, has completed a study to identify potential parking structure replacement locations and alternatives for visitors to the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, in St. Louis, consisting of the Gateway Arch, Luther Ely Smith Square and the Old Courthouse. The master plan included removal of the existing Gateway Arch parking structure to make way for additional multi-use open space.
