Don Norte, former Parking Services & Projects Officer for the City of West Hollywood, has joined LA Metro’s Countywide Planning & Development Department parking management staff to administer Metro’s Supportive Transit Parking Program (STPP) Master Plan, developed to ensure parking resources for patrons through the use of parking fee structures; transit collections and verification systems; and parking enforcement at high demand Metro transit stations.

Cale developed its own mobile app, Way To Park, and released an updated version of it in November that’s available on App Store and Google Play in Europe and Malaysia. Users can pay directly from their smartphone, tablet or other smart device and receive a reminder when the parking time is coming to an end. The updated version has faster registration, is map-based, and has a simplified menu designed for improved user friendliness. Douglas Fell, PE, has joined Walker Consultants as a Senior Restoration Consultant. He will direct the firm’s Emergency Response Services, assisting clients with damaged structures across the U.S. by overseeing origin-and-cause investigations, damage assessments, repair cost estimates and temporary shoring plans. Being able to pay for parking with a smartphone is now available in a third Québec province, Eastern Townships, where drivers can use the Passport Canada app at any of the 12,000 parking spaces across key areas of the region. Société Parc-Auto du Québec and Passport, the global leader in mobile payments for parking and transit, partnered to bring the mobile parking payment solution to the area. The app also is available in other cities in Québec, including Montreal and Québec City. In related news, the PassportParking mobile app, powered by Passport, has been launched in Fort Myers Beach, FL. The City Council of Columbia, MO, has approved HUB Parking Technology to provide and install a PARC system within its six parking garages. The barcode- and EMV-ready HUB PARCS solution includes 18 lanes of equipment with payment via credit card and validation, and 12 pay-on-foot paystations allowing payment by cash and/or credit card. Its innovative and versatile JMS Management System is designed to provide flexible and efficient access to facility operations. The company also will help the city automate and standardize the parking system currently in place.
Indect USA, the industry’s leading provider of sensor-based parking guidance systems, has completed what it calls a “pioneering” PGS installation at the Jenkins Avenue Garage on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman. The Kansas City branch of Amano McGann is responsible for installing a new parking access and revenue control system at the Marriott Overland Park in Kansas. The parking lot of the upscale 435-room hotel had not been monetized. “To turn the [lot] into efficient, profitable space, OPUSeries hardware will be paired with iParcProfessional Parking Management Software,” said Tom Dishman, Vice President - Eastern Region. The hotel also will take advantage of the Amano McGann’s seamless property management system integration with Opera, Marriott’s property management system.
