In March 1984, more than 100 industry people and vendors gathered in Monterey, CA, to discuss mutual concerns in the field of parking management and control. As a result of this meeting, the California Public Parking Association was created now known as California Mobility and Parking Association.
The CMPA has established the following organizational goals: To build and maintain a statewide organization of parking professionals; to foster mutual support among members and promote and develop parking management as a profession; to inform and support members in dealing with and solving parking problems; to provide an understanding of parking principles and practices through information sharing, education and training; to act as a unifying force in the state of California to monitor, advocate, and promote parking related legislation which will aid and benefit members in the performance of their jobs.
The CMPA has successfully sponsored and provided support or opposition for legislation affecting association members and employs a full-time lobbyist in Sacramento.

The Campus Parking and Transportation Association (CPTA) holds annual conferences at member schools in the fall of each year. The conference also includes updates on the latest trends in the industry as well as training sessions in parking and transportation operations and management. CPTA maintains an on-line benchmarking database and a listserv for its members.

The Carolinas Parking Association is a professional association of parking administrators, practitioners, suppliers, vendors and consultants formed for the purposes of acquiring knowledge; encouraging professional development; providing mutual support, and creating an environment for professional interaction.

The Board of Directors for the Carolinas Parking Association includes ten members from North and South Carolina and represent municipalities, colleges or university campuses, hospitals or medical centers, airports or other membership types such as consultants and vendors. The Board of Directors act as the governing body of the Carolinas Parking Association with the single goal of enhancing benefits to those members of the organization.

The Los Angeles Parking Association has been of service to the parking industry for 40 years. It has two major goals: To serve as a representative for parking interests with city, state and federal government, and to undertake community projects that will appropriately represent the members as caring corporate citizens. Legislative accomplishments include having a member named to the Air Quality Management District; aiding in the defeat of a 5 percent parking tax; successfully representing property owners with the LA city planning department regarding unreasonable landscaping requirements; assisting in defeating an EPA proposal to tax every public and private parking space in the U.S.; and defeating the proposed increase in LA parking tax from 10 to 40 percent.

The MPA is the exclusive bargaining agent for its members with local 272 IBT. The PPA began with its first meeting on December 11, 1985. The first conference was held in 1989 in Harrisburg. Since then, the conference has been held annually at cities across the state including State College, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Scranton, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Today we have over 130 members. The Association is considered one of the strongest and most active state associations, hosting an annual conference, golf outing, spring training session, a meeting at each IPMI conference, and annual Parking Innovation Awards.
As the Association continues to grow, it takes on new challenges and works with the diverse agencies of the Commonwealth on a variety of topics that affect the parking industry.

The Texas Parking Association offers two levels of membership. Each organization must have one Regular member (voting rights) and all others must be Associate members (no voting rights).
Regular....$150 (Voting Privileges) Representatives of municipalities or other government bodies or parking authorities, transportation authorities, boards, bureaus, commissions or departments, also including universities, colleges, airports, hospitals, stadiums and auditoriums, or other institutions having similar responsibility for the establishment, operation, maintenance, control or direction of public parking. Note: Each organization is limited to one (1) Regular member and all others must be Associate members.
Associate....$150 (No Voting Privileges) Representatives of the Regular and Associate members or any other individual, corporation or Association that the Board may elect.
Memberships are valid from January 1st - December 31st.
Since 1987, the Texas Parking & Transportation Association has been a vehicle for individuals engaged with parking and transportation businesses in municipalities, hospitals, airports, universities and parking authorities. We promote the mutual interests of the membership in the provision and operation of adequate, safe, efficient, convenient and economical public parking and transportation as a proper and necessary function for the economic and social well-being of our members.
