Seems that in areas around London, the local authorities have been giving out parking tickets illegally. They have been ticketing in places where the signage was incorrect and in others where the parking spaces were improperly marked. When it was determined that the fines were improper, those that hadn’t yet paid were voided, but the monies that had been paid on time were kept.
The representative for the local governments said and I quote:
"Where there’s only a technical error, a small issue, where no-one was
genuinely misled, the council can take the view, is it really a good
use of public money to repay the penalty?”
Oh please. So sorry, its only a technical error that we tore down the wrong house, it isn’t a good use of public money to rebuild it. Come on, can these people have these conversations with a straight face?
Its no wonder that parking enforcement is so hated in the UK. Even when they makes mistakes they don’t own up to them and do the right thing. These people should at a minimum lose their jobs.
