Going Green

If ever there was a theme in theNPA exhibit all, its was Let’s go Green. It seemed like every other booth was either extolling the benefits of low cost, low energy lighting (can you say LED), or hawking the benefits of having electric vehicle power stations in your garage.

Although I guess it’s a good thing to have these power stations in your garage to benefit the electric concious amongst your customers, one operator mentioned to me that he didn’t think he would see many electric cars in his market in the mountain states. “Hell, its more than 40 miles between my locations.”

My feeling is that you will see a few of these vehicles in San Francisco, Seattle, LA’s westside, the upper East side of New York, Cambridge and inside the beltway but in places where you have to drive a distance to get anywhere they may not be the way to go.
