Hat’s off To Twitter in Boulder

I am pleased to say that I am being followed by the Boulder Colorado department that handles parking, transportation, walking and bike paths. They call it access. This was brought to my attention when I found that I had “blocked” them from my twitter site. Seems a few months ago I began following them and they have some many local “tweets” that it overwhelmed my page. Most were unique to Boulder so my interest was in form, rather than substance. Donna Jobert in their parking services department pointed out my error (she asked what she had done to deserve being “blocked”. I was mortified, I didn’t realize how “blocking” could be such a rude thing to do. Donna comments to me:

… we do a lot more than just parking on our twitter.  Our system is based on “access” so we cover lots of bus, bike, walk along with parking.  Also, we are an economic partner in our commercial districts, so we interact a lot with the biz community to stimulate retail, shop local messaging, etc.  It has really paid off for us to be “one of the gang”.  We get much more support for parking and maybe even fewer complaints!

I’m pleased to say that Boulder is now on the list and that she is receiving tweets from JVHPT. I am also stunned that her twitter account has over 1000 followers. Good for you Donna and Boulder. I can only aspire to your popularity.
