The parking story that never goes away. And this one doesn’t involve the Garden Street Automated Garage, or does it?
Its complicated but basically the head of the Hoboken Parking Utility, one John Corea, who it seems was fired from the NYSE for improper trading practices, hired a company to collect the onstreet meter revenue. For some reason, the company neglected to pay the city over half a million in monies collected. This was discovered in an audit last fall — they eventually did pay the money, but Corea is still under investigation. Read all about it here.
Now if you want some good gossip, involving the Mayor, the Parking Utility, former HPA member Don Pellacano, Michael Russo who is, I think, Brother of the former Mayor, go to the web site that keeps track of all things Hoboken, go to "Mister Snitch." I can’t say how much of this is accurate and how much of it is conjecture. You be the judge.

Michael Russo is Anthony Russo’s son. While Anthony was busy dealing with ‘personal issues’ (widespread cancer and prison) Mama Russo geared up the father’s political machinery to get the son installed in the Council position the elder Russo had held. (After being ousted as Mayor, Russo ran for and won a City Council seat representing his ward.)
The idea of course is to put the Russos back in control of Hoboken. There’s stiff opposition from the Hudson County Democratic Organization, which currently runs the town. Recently, though, the city was forced to abdicate control over its own finances to the state, so technically it may be said that – at the moment – NEITHER the current mayor nor the Russos run Hoboken in any meaningful way. (But that’s yet another Hoboken story, not directly related to the automated garage or to parking.)
‘Conjecture’ and ‘fact’ are long-time dance partners in Hudson County. It is indeed hard to tell them apart. Here’s a rule of thumb for the outsider looking in. It’s a guide we citizens follow ourselves: If it’s REALLY outrageous, it’s probably fact.
I have sent in my commetns
Mr Snitch has come out from under his rock since all snakes crawl on heir belly
And I always thought that the PT magazine and their staff were above this kind of garbage.
But then it is news, even if it is garbage

I again thought that you were/ are more professional than the story you wrote. To ressurect old garbage is just simlply not news.
You do not have any of the facts yet you close with “you be the judge” You were the judge when you printed the story that could be true but should not mention a lot of other names and Mr. snitch is just not worth the paper he writes on. But then it is easy for him to write since he does not walk, he crawls. Don Pellicano
Hey Snsitch
Introduce yourself at the next meeting.
Since you know me I would (not really) like to know you. But then it is easy to figure out what snakes look like
Or those who hide behind a name and make statements that lawyers will relish in a law suit
You see I know who you are and have your report with a lot of names at the end.

I received a parking ticket for $150 and a boot on my car this evening for parking along Sinatra Drive along the water front. I have been parking here since I started attending stevens and aside from the 2-hr limit, I have yet to see any change in the striping or signage along the street. I was informed tonight that the western side of the street was designated “residential” at the end of February and now requires a permit, however I walked 100 ft in each direction of my car and could not find one sign saying so.
I also noticed there were at least 5 others that had received a boot as well! CLEARLY this area is horribly marked. I would happily pay a ticket of $25 or $35, typical parking ticket, but $150!?!? THIS IS MY FOOD BILL FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH!!! I understand that we’re in tough economic times and that you would like to hold on staff you have, but to charge someone $150 for a parking ticket is so wrong, particularly when the street is so poorly marked. How much money would you save by NOT using the boot system, and NOT paying someone to sit on the 877-line to answer the phone call to remove the boot? This is so wrong.
I have been forced to make some major cuts in my budget and had to cancel some plans for travel so I could survive the coming year. I wish I had a public that I could take advantage of to keep running my business the way I would like, but unfortunately I don’t have that luxury. I hope that whoever’s paycheck I helped pay tonight really enjoys my food money for the next month.
There’s a better way to raise money and enforce the law.
