SF Park, that is – So now no charging on Sunday. The money quote:

“I didn’t know of a single merchant that was for this proposal,” Fink said. “Parking is horrible on Sunday, but it’s pretty much horrible every day. I’m not sure charging on Sunday would help anyone but The City.”

Strangely I’m speechless. They need to get the program up and running for a few months to see if it works as advertised. If it does, the merchants will be screaming for charges on Sunday. It makes no sense to separate Sunday from the rest of the week if all the stores are open and traffic is the same as the rest of the week.

Is this the beginning of the end? I surely hope not.

Oh, someone commented on the Handicapped Placards in Santa Monica referencing San Francisco:

This is why SFPark is a big joke. There are many more handicapped placards in SF than there are meters. You can make the rate $100 an hour, but if a large chunk can take all of the time for free, there’s no point.Rather than waste $20 million in federal funds, they could do more by simply changing the state law to require all to pay.

Wonder how many of the merchants offer stuff for “free” on Sundays?
