Its the weekend and the computer is “UP”

Good Sunday Morning: It is truly a beautiful day in Southern California. The birds are singing, the sky is blue, and my computer is running like a champ.

After finding I couldn’t sign on the ‘net, I started down the path of working with Microsoft (in New Delhi) and Dell (in Nashville). Both chaps were very helpful and in the end we decided to reformat my hard drive and reload all the software. I was successful and find now that my computer runs about twice as fast as it did before. Its truly is a beautiful day.

The best investment I ever made was an off board back up drive I plugged in a year ago. It holds "stuff" i dont need all the time, although its available instantly, and also holds my back up of outlook, (email) and my documents. Wow — sure nice to have for this little go.

The fellow in Nashville told me he re-formats periodically to keep his machine running fast. He says, and I believe it, that Windows slows down over time as it slowly crumbles in on itself. He also mentioned that we get other programs running we don’t know about and they slow us down too.

I have two programs I strongly recommend — one is Spy-bot — get it free here, and the other is Ppop-up blocker — again free here. Spy-bot removes all the ‘bots installed by web sites you visit. Pop up blocker stops those annoying ads from jumping at you when you visit a web site. When I first ran spy-bot earlier this year, it found over 500 ‘bots in my machine. not any more.

Well, nuff computer stuff for now — back to Parking on Monday.
