Much Happening at the NPA Show

Some Quick Tidbits:

Robert Cizek has returned to Central Parking in a VP of Sales position.

Jerry Skillett, late of Central Parking, has formed an parking investment firm with The Car Park’s Jeff Wolfe.  Jerry told me the firm has $100,000,000 to invest in parking companies.

The folks at T2 were celebrating their recent influx of funds. Mike Simmons and Co received $28 million in investment capital and, I’m told, will be moving in new directions in the near future.

I spend a wonderful half hour with Larry Donoghue. The most senior member of the parking community spoke lovingly of his time in the Navy during WWII on the Intrepid, the air craft carrier now a museum in New York Harbor.

While I was talking to Larry, Stan Cramer of Harrisburg, PA, dropped by and told of his latest adventures in the off airport parking and car rental business.

Speaking of “off airport,” Charley Brown of Pittsburgh invited me to join him this winter when he has to dig cars out that have been trapped with snow. I think I will be traveling in the Caribbean at that time.

I seem to stop conversations in mid sentence.  Amano McGann’s Larry Feuer and Joe Survance were chatting with Albert Bogaard of Park Mobile and had a rash of cat’s getting tongues when I walked up. They said that this paragraph is the reason for the silence.

Alan Lazowski of Laz Parking hosted a wonderful party in the suite used to film “Rain Man”. Alan was a tad embarassed by the gaudiness of the suite and actually removed some of the glitz before the event.  The attendance list read like the history of the parking business. Senior statesmen like Sonny Swartz and Tony Policella told great stories to newcomers throughout the evening. Missing was Herb Citrin who was there in spirit (as as a full sized poster) but remained in LA due to an illness.

Kendra Petty, who was a wheel at L and R before they sold most of their parking operations to Ampco System, is now Regional Vice President for Laz — she told me she was supervising Laz Parking’s West Coast Operations from an office in Beverly Hills.
