Two BILLION Parking Spaces in the US

Two BILLION Parking Spaces in the US

Read this article, and find out. OK, maybe the number is a tad high, but the logic that there are 250,000,000 cars in the US (This is a true number) and each one most likely has a starting parking space (home) and a destination space (work or shopping) so the number 500,000,000 is not out of line. Of course some say that there are three spaces per car – so that adds up to 750,000,000.

One thing that most agree on, however, is that an extremely high number of trips, up to 98%, end in parking spaces that are free. At least free to the driver. Obviously someone pays for those spaces, and the real estate under them.

Still – 2,000,000,000 spaces is a nice number. It does sort of roll off the tongue. And if you are in the parking business, it means there’s a really large market out there.
