Future-Focused and Technology-Driven: The Next Generation of DESIGNA in the U.S.

For 72 years, a clear visionary approach and the constant pursuit of progress and innovation has shaped DESIGNA’s success in parking management solutions. In 2023, DESIGNA strengthens its presence in the U.S. market with further expansion including the recent acquisition of NextGen Parking, LLC, of Houston, a long-standing DESIGNA partner and leading provider of integrated parking management systems in the Central, Southwestern and Southeastern United States.

John Curtiss, former NextGen CEO has assumed leadership for all DESIGNA activities in the U.S. as CEO. “The DESIGNA NextGen integration demonstrates the company’s strong commitment to its current and future customers in the U.S.,” states Curtiss. “We have doubled our U.S. staff and expanded market presence to create the next generation of DESIGNA here in the U.S.”

Further growth includes the expansion of current regional offices and the addition of six new regional locations to provide coverage across the country.

With thousands of employees and partners in hundreds of locations worldwide, DESIGNA and its sister company, Salzburg-based AXESS, are global market leaders offering innovative solutions for high-quality commercial parking and access management systems. Both companies are committed to providing smart solutions for our networked world.

“Building on its strong heritage, DESIGNA continues to enjoy success from our future-focused products and innovative solutions,” states Curtiss. “DESIGNA regularly integrates new technologies into current offerings to address trending market demands. Ticketless, Cashless or even Free-Flow solutions can be part of your DESIGNA system.”

John Curtiss will be featured with Ricky Harbaugh from Children’s Health Dallas in an educational session at the 2023 IPMI Conference in Fort Worth this month. The case study session “Achieving the Customer-Centric Parking Vision at Children’s Health Dallas” on Sunday, June 11, will share goals and outcomes from the Health Care Parking enterprise implemented by Children’s Health. The new parking control system is fully integrated with internal IT functions and other employee and patient services. The innovative and advanced system is oriented specifically to provide a seamless parking experience for employees, patients, and visitors, and reflect positively on the organization. The on-prem system is integrated with LPR, a camera-based parking guidance system and Childrens’ security access systems to serve the parking needs of patients, visitors, employees and professional staff. The result is a frictionless, easy parking experience for all parking populations.

DESIGNA will also sponsor the Airport Operations Shoptalk at the IPMI Conference, where DESIGNA’s U.S. Vice President Paul McIlvride will participate. With a career encompassing over 300 major DESIGNA installations worldwide, including over 40 airport installations, Paul is uniquely qualified to share his experience of how parking is a critical part of the passenger experience.

“Our people – and their passion, knowledge and experience – make the difference,” stated Curtiss. “Our team is committed to becoming a true partner for our clients, adding real value to each project. Our talented team members understand the unique requirements of key verticals, support client efforts to increase profitability, and appreciate the changing needs of parking customers.”

Smarter solutions for a digital planet.

Curtiss describes how DESIGNA offers customized solutions for complex requirements. “Each system is specifically configured to meet clients’ particular goals and requirements. All components are adapted to the application of our smart solutions and designed for frictionless interaction. Our systems offer the latest web and app functionality, plus an open architecture that is integration friendly while meeting industry security requirements.”

“From very large-scale integrated projects to smaller systems, our solutions incorporate the perspective of the parking customer to provide the optimal experience and convenience,” states Curtiss. “That’s why our CONNECT Series with digital content displays communicate with customers throughout their parking journey.”

On a global level, DESIGNA has recently named Florian Leiber to lead its cutting-edge technology divisions as Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director. Leiber will work alongside DESIGNA and AXESS Global CEO Oliver Suter.

“With Florian Leiber, DESIGNA is emphasizing its important technical expertise as a market leader in parking management systems,” stated Suter. “We are delighted to have such an experienced managing director and technical designer at the helm of the company.”

The company has also rebranded its scalable and customized software platform to the Designa APPLICATION CENTER. From centrally hosted control systems to reservation functions such as pre-booking to comprehensive analysis and dynamic pricing tools, the company has developed forward-looking software for the parking industry for decades. To foster our future-driven software commitment and hosted cloud services, DESIGNA has now integrated DESIGNA DIGITAL SOLUTIONS (formally ilogs) into the company.

“We are proud to take this step into the future and hope to take further big steps in the growth market of digital parking solutions,” stated Suter. “Our marketing message is Parking in Motion because we are always moving forward and integrating the future.”
