Ernst & Young LLP announced that George Baker, Sr. of ParkHub was named an Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 Southwest Award finalist. Now in its 37th year, Entrepreneur of the Year is one of the preeminent competitive business awards for transformative entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies who are building a more equitable, sustainable and prosperous world for all. Baker was selected by an independent panel of judges.

Parkopedia’s parking reservation and payment services are now available in Mercedes-Benz models across more than 5,000 locations in North America. The automaker’s latest ‘MBUX’ infotainment system uses Parkopedia data and in-car payment technology to simplify the process of finding, reserving and paying for parking and to provide desirable software features to North American customers, ensuring a seamless behind-the-wheel experience. Parkopedia introduces a new Managing Director for the company’s Chinese operations, Benjamin Xuan, who will be based at the company’s Shanghai office and start with immediate effect. Benjamin will work alongside the existing Parkopedia China team members and focus on continuing to generate value for drivers and car manufacturers with Parkopedia’s products in the Chinese market.

The Board of Directors of Blink Charging Co. announced that Brendan S. Jones has been promoted to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer for Blink Charging. Michael D. Farkas will continue to serve on the board. Jones joined Blink in April 2020 as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer and has been serving as its President since 2021 where he has successfully positioned the organization for future expansion.

WPS Parking Solutions, specialists in innovative cloud-based parking management solutions has been acquired by Munich-based family-run industrial holding company CERTINA GROUP. With over 25 years of experience in building and reshaping companies, CERTINA will further invest in WPS, its solutions, customers and employees to drive innovation and growth within the parking industry. The sale of WPS Parking Solutions to CERTINA will result in the separation of the current WPS organization.

WPS U.S. announced that its President, Ira Powers, will be stepping down from his position for personal reasons. While the company is saddened by his departure, they fully support his decision and wish him the best in his future endeavors. Effective May 1, 2023, the leadership of WPS U.S. will be transferred to the current Executive Vice President, Michael Lapidus. Michael has been an essential member of the organization for several years, holding various leadership roles both within the company and throughout the industry.

ZipBy announced the launch of parking permits feature at Joyce Parking surface lot in Buffalo, New York. Drivers can now apply for and purchase a casual or permanent parking permit right inside the ZipBy app. It’s fast and simple to get the JP/ZipBy hangtag and register the plate to park. ZipBy also announced the launch of its multi-lingual support feature. In collaboration with EasyPark Canada, the new feature will allow all users to use the app with ease and convenience. The largest city in British Columbia, Vancouver has a culturally diverse community. It also has the largest Chinese community in Canada. ZipBy now supports these communities. Vancouver is the third largest Chinatown in North America, behind New York and San Francisco and the app will be promoted there and to the wider community.

About 40 people offered ideas on how to enhance parking in downtown Modesto at two meetings led by a consultant. Some urged a return of parking meters, last seen in these parts in the late 1990s. Others want to tweak the time limits to better match customer needs. Still others suggested making garages more attractive. The city hired Dixon Resources Unlimited, based in San Diego, to draft a plan on a $185,000 contract.

The City of Minneapolis launched the newest version of its white-labeled mobile parking payment app, the MPLS Parking App, in just 6 short weeks after extending its partnership with Flowbird. The upgraded app replaces the previous version and now offers enhanced user experience and feature-rich capabilities. The new MPLS Parking App officially launched on April 16th and covers approximately 9,500 City-owned parking spaces.

ABM has announced its plan to centralize its eMobility, resiliency, and electrical infrastructure operations, services and training through an expanded multiuse facility. Officially named the ABM Electrification Center, the new facility will be co-located in Cumming, GA, with the existing operations center of ABM’s RavenVolt, a leader in advanced turn-key microgrid systems and technologies. ABM has been named to the DiversityInc list of Noteworthy companies for the first time. The DiversityInc Noteworthy Companies list is comprised of companies whose data indicates they have the potential to make the DiversityInc Top 50 list.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Airport has named ZiGGY, the new robotic EV charger from EV Safe Charge, as a participant in the airport’s demonstration program to assess cutting-edge EV-charging approaches this summer. ZiGGY is the first and only mobile EV charger that aims to affordably and safely meet the EV charging needs of virtually any commercial parking lot – including airports – and offer a built-in communications and advertising platform to create a revenue stream for sites and maximize EV owner engagement. This airport demonstration is the first of its kind anywhere.

ParkMobile is expanding into Hermosa Beach, California. ParkMobile is the first and only mobile parking payment provider in town alongside the city’s current metered payment options, with debit or credit card and coin payment options available at all spaces. The transition to ParkMobile will start with off-street parking at beach-serving downtown parking lots A, B and C before launching with on-street spaces. When the roll-out is complete, ParkMobile will offer smart parking for over 1,500 spots. The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center announced a new partnership with ParkMobile, the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in North America and part of the EasyPark Group. 

Pivot Parking is proud to announce the addition of industry veteran, Gary Means, to their growing team. Means will serve as Executive Vice President of Municipal and Commercial, focusing on territory growth and the development and implementation of new technologies to benefit parking clients and end users. “I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to join the talented team at Pivot Parking and help build on the firm foundation that Scott Diggs, Paul Adkison, Tina Reid and Brandon Lauterbach have established,” said Means.

alpitronic America, Inc., a manufacturer of electric vehicle charging units and a subsidiary of Italy-based Alpitronic SRL, has announced Charlotte, North Carolina as the location for its new North American headquarters. With a planned $9.3 million investment into a facility on Westpark Drive, the company is poised to create 300 new jobs. Philipp Senoner, CEO of alpitronic SRL, anticipates significant growth for the company within the next few years, driven by its high-performance charging solution aiding the transition towards e-mobility for passenger vehicles and trucks.

With Covid-19 travel restrictions easing throughout the world, the air travel industry has seen demand steadily increase, reaching near pre-pandemic levels. That increase has also had a positive impact on airport parking operations. With this, Concord Parking is pleased to announce that after a two-year suspension of service due to the pandemic, its YVR jetSet Valet service is back up and running. YVR’s jetSet Valet service was initially launched in March 2019.
