Zevtron, a Carlsbad, California-based smart EV charging software and hardware solutions provider, announced that it has completed the installation of a new EV charging project in a Culver City, California business complex. This project allows the complex owner to manage or restrict access to the chargers by tenant. Currently, the EV chargers are utilized by a state agency to recharge employee and fleet vehicles.

 

Information from the City of Roseburg said that staff is working with parking program contractor ACE Parking to simplify the parking ticket appeals process. City Manager Nikki Messenger said, “Our current tickets are in compliance. The tickets are valid unless the municipal judge has dismissed a ticket.” ACE has handled parking enforcement in the downtown area and the Laurelwood neighborhood, adjacent to Roseburg High School, since the start of 2022.

 

CPMA is pleased to announce the appointment a new board member, Vanessa Watson, of Clemson University Parking and Transportation Services. She is currently the Sr. Associate Director for Parking Operations at Clemson University. With over 34 years of experience in university parking, she entered the field of parking after graduating from Central Wesleyan College (Southern Wesleyan University) with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration. While working at Clemson University she also received her Master’s degree in Human Resource Development.

 

According to the City of Mobile, it will be breaking ground on a new, five-story, 1,000-space parking garage on the Mobile Civic Center property. This $38.3 million project will accommodate hundreds of employees at the multi-story office building the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is already constructing on the site. The new garage will also provide parking for future events at the Mobile Civic Center and other attractions throughout downtown Mobile.

 

Parkopedia has partnered with ChargeHub to enhance the charging experience for millions of North American EV drivers. ChargeHub’s 80,000-strong network of charging stations across the U.S. and Canada will be integrated into Parkopedia’s Payment Platform to enable in-car charger activations and payments via a single sign-on account on participating Charge Site Operators.

 

Beginning with the 2024 season, the Milwaukee Brewers will use new technology to make parking easier. They are partnering with the locally owned and operated Interstate Parking Company to use the new license plate recognition tech. Once parked in the American Family Field parking lots, fans with prepaid digital parking will activate their parking session by typing in their license plate on the MLB Ballpark app. Fans purchasing day-of parking will scan a QR code posted on signs in the lot, then enter their information. Officials say the new process should help alleviate backups.

 

Parisians have voted in favor of tripling the parking costs for sports utility vehicles, as the city aims to tackle air pollution and improve road safety. The cost of on-street parking for an SUV or 4×4 car will rise to €18 (US$19.30) an hour in the center of Paris and €12 an hour in the rest of the city, with September 2024 suggested as a possible start date. The prices will apply to combustion engine or hybrid vehicles weighing more than 1.6 tons, allowing more leeway for electric vehicles (EVs) with only those weighing more than two tons subject to the increased charge. There are exemptions for taxi drivers, tradespeople, health workers and people with disabilities.

 

Choice Hotels International, a major hotel franchisor, has entered into an agreement with electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla to provide Tesla Universal Wall Connectors at select hotel locations across the United States. This initiative will enable participating hotels under the Choice brand, including Radisson, Cambria, Comfort, and others, to install at least four charging stations for guest use. The collaboration is aimed at addressing the increasing demand for EV charging facilities and enhancing the attractiveness of Choice Hotels for travelers who drive electric vehicles.

 

Rockland, ME, is expected to start its pilot metered parking program in May. The City Council voted to spend up to $80,000 from the parking reserve account for the purchase of seven multi-space parking pay stations. City Manager Tom Luttrell said the city received seven bids for pay stations and the city decided to go with IPS Group. He said both Camden and Bar Harbor use IPS. The manager said the city is still working with the company on its software to allow for discounts for Rockland residents such as a half hour of free parking. 

 

Blink Charging Co. announced that it will be installing 20 IQ 200 chargers across four downtown parking garages in the City of Frederick, MD, for residents and visitors to utilize. The installation of 20 charging stations across four designated parking garages is a result of the City of Frederick’s plan to cater to the charging needs of residents lacking home charging options, and visitors to the city.

 

Quercus Technologies announced the launch of its latest innovation, the new version of the SmartLPR system. With the latest version, we’ve not only made significant improvements to the product, we’ve also changed the name of our cameras, from SmartLPR Access to SmartLPR. This new name also represents our determination to lead in the field of artificial intelligence applied to license plate recognition systems.

 

Level Parking, a new player in the parking management scene, has commenced operations. Owned by Philip Olivier, Level Parking oversees a private lot at 25 W. Government St. and has adopted the ParkMobile app for handling its online payments. Olivier asserts, “ParkMobile was the best choice for Level Parking due to its extensive user base and ease of use.” The city of Pensacola began utilizing the ParkMobile app in January, and since then, it has processed over 14,000 parking transactions.

 

The Borough of Carlisle, Pennsylvania announced an exciting upgrade to its parking system in partnership with Butts Ticket Systems and Flowbird Group. The borough is replacing its aging single-space parking meters with 56 Flowbird Pay-by-Plate Smart Parking Kiosks, fully equipped with the industry’s latest technology. Additionally, the Borough will now be offering three modernized digital payment options, the Flowbird mobile payment app, Pay-by-Text and Extend-by-Text.

 

DESIGNA announced that Brett Winslow has joined their U.S. subsidiary in a leadership role. Mr. Winslow is the new President & CEO of the North American subsidiary, Designa Access Corporation, succeeding John Curtiss who retired in March. Winslow has an extensive background in the parking industry with manufacturers as well as service companies in the development and delivery of technology-based parking management systems.

 

The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute announced the winners of the 2024 PCI Design Awards. There were 19 winners in the specials, buildings, and transportation categories; there were also 15 honorable mentions. For 61 years, the PCI Design Awards program has showcased and recognized creative and innovative uses of precast concrete. Panels of engineers, architects, and precast concrete producers judge all submittals. The buildings and transportation categories are judged on aesthetic, structural, and use versatility; site, energy and operational efficiency, and risk reduction; and resiliency, such as structure durability, multi-hazard protection, and life safety and health.

 

Umojo announced that it is delighted to have been chosen as a contract supplier of Curb Management Technology and Services by Sourcewell, a leader in cooperative purchasing facilitation for public entities across North America. Sourcewell, A self-sustaining government organization, has over 40 years of dedicated service helping government and education entities operate more efficiently through a variety of solutions, including cooperative RFP facilitation and vetting 3rd party vendors for ease of procurement and faster contracting.

 

A digital system to keep track of parking limits will be put in place in downtown Westport, CT this spring. The new tracking system is part of efforts to end confusion caused by different time limits and inconsistent messaging posted at parking lots and streets downtown. The city made a five-year agreement with Cardinal Tracking of Texas for “TickeTrak” software for parking enforcement and billing. With the new software, a police vehicle would be outfitted with a scanning device to record license plates of parked cars. Three hours later, the enforcement vehicle will check the area for any cars that overstayed the three-hour limit. 

 

Mobile Smart City and The City of Hamilton, Bermuda, entered into a Pilot Program to provide a ticketless parking system. The new system will include Mobile Smart City’s N42 Entry unit with a full interactive screen, QR reader for Pango Parking App, ability to print tickets and intercom system, with license plate recognition.

 

TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) announced our collaboration with Hamilton County at The Banks in Cincinnati, Ohio. Currently, we’re in the process of installing our Automated Parking Guidance System at The Banks parking garage, featuring more than 4,000 spaces on two levels. While the Ohio River is considered the “Main Street” of Cincinnati, the Riverfront is its heart. 

 

Denison Parking now manages valet parking for Commission Row, a new 30,000 square foot dining and entertainment experience in Indianapolis. Part of the Pacers Sports & Entertainment Complex, it is adjacent to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Bicentennial Unity Plaza. Denison Parking is also now managing The Whit Parking Garage, a 505-space garage connected to The Whit Apartments and an additional apartment building. In addition, Denison Parking is now managing the 290-space parking garage at Rivergate Apartments in the Gateway District of Minneapolis.
