NuPark Inc. has been awarded the contract to provide automated parking management and enforcement for the city of Flagstaff, AZ. Its parking management system will be a key part of the city’s new Comprehensive Parking Management Program, designed to maximize the utilization of parking within the downtown and Southside areas. The city is creating a pay-to-park system with permits for employees and residents in the areas surrounding downtown Flagstaff.
Southern California’s traffic and parking congestion is legendary, and Miami-based MyPark is bringing its innovative parking solution to MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana. Its customers can now reserve a prime parking spot with a simple tap on their smartphones, saving time and energy by eliminating the hunt to find the perfect spot. The MyPark app enables consumers to locate and reserve a prime parking spot in convenient locations close to where they want to be.
The Harman Group, a structural engineering firm that also provides parking planning and design and construction engineering services, has promoted four team members: Tuna Yelkikanat, PE, Senior Associate and Director of its New York office; Todd Campbell, PE, Senior Associate/Project Manager; Chris Gottschall, Associate/Senior Project Engineer; and Jason Squitiere, PE, Associate/Project Manager.
Nedap has expanded its services at the Port of Antwerp, the biggest in Belgium. An important requirement for the modern parking facility was that all drivers be informed about available parking spaces in real-time. Its Sensit sensors were installed in order to make this a reality. The company also installed advanced security and anti-theft systems. In related news, Nedap and its certified partner Cross have teamed up to monitor on-street parking in Izmir, Turkey. As part of a city-wide implementation of traffic management, 2,000 parking spaces are equipped with the Sensit system, integrated with the Cross traffic management platform InVipo.
Code Blue Corp., the industry pioneering manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, has hired Katie Petre as the Director of Experience. In this newly created role, she will be responsible for leading the organization’s day-to-day engagement with partners and customers through key marketing initiatives. Her duties also will include working to build and develop new tools and programs that help expand the company’s message. “The Code Blue name … is a reflection of the trust our partners place with us,” Chief Design Officer David Fleming said. She comes with “a tremendous skill set, ensuring that we continue to meet and exceed the top-notch experience they expect from [us].”
Online Czech travel agency Kiwi.com has chosen ParkCloud to provide its customers with parking reservation services. The agency’s “unique flight search algorithm” lets customers combine flights from airlines that do not usually collaborate onto a single itinerary, resulting in significant savings. Collecting real-time flight data from countless airlines and flight data aggregators, Kiwi.com stores the information in a high-end database, enabling the customer to get the best possible deal.
Students at California State University, Chico are now able to pay for hourly and daily campus parking from their smartphones through a partnership with the mobile app PassportParking. The pay-by-app leader was to be rolled out as a pilot program in February at two parking lots. CSU, Chico said it had chosen Passport because of its versatile technology platform and
its proven success on other university campuses.
Ace Parking recently partnered with Tempe, AZ-based Western International University (West), an accredited online program that has been helping working adults earn high-quality undergraduate and graduate degrees for more than 35 years. The company said this educational partnership will provide its team members with the opportunity to earn undergraduate and graduate degrees through a special Ace Parking-tailored tuition-reduction program.

It includes the development and management of high-quality office, media and entertainment properties. In addition to HPP tenants, the parking portfolio also supports a number of popular entertainment destinations in their respective regions, including

Laz Parking Realty Investors has added five new locations to its portfolio in the past 15 months, which involved a total investment of about $291 million. The largest and most recent acquisition was a nine-level, 1,037-stall garage with 50,000 square feet of retail space in Boston, purchased with a partner in October. Laz Parking is operating the facilities. The other locations are 425 stalls in San Francisco in August 2016; a 1,154-stall garage in Chicago in June 2016; a 320-stall garage in Cincinnati in March 2016; and a 526-stall garage in Seattle in December 2015.

It recently signed agreements with five companies that will sell, support and service Parkeon products and systems, including “smart” kiosk solutions, the Whoosh! mobile payment app, and a suite of web-based parking management tools. Its distribution partners service an exclusive and defined territory in the U.S.. They are Access Control Group, Access Professional Systems, Entry Guard Systems, Fisher Parking & Security, and Southern Time.
Scottsdale, AZ-based Apriva, the leading provider of secure end-to-end wireless transaction processing solutions, and Metric Parking, a leader in parking and ticketing payment solutions, have completed EMV integration and certification on what they call “the strongest unattended EMV payment solution in the U.S. to date.” The certification spans all major card brands, enabling the use of EMV chip card technology. “The U.S. market for unattended payments … is in dire need of upgrades in security and technology,” said Peter Aylward, Managing Director of UK-based Metric Group. “Now is the time to deploy new, flexible and more secure unattended payment solutions. Audrey Kamin, a seasoned securities professional with more than 20 years of experience, has joined MVP Realty Advisors as Senior Vice President, National Accounts Manager. SpotHero, a leading U.S. parking reservation service, recently launched in 13 new cities — including Austin, Houston, Indianapolis, Miami and San Diego — in response, it said, to strong driver demand. HUB Parking Technology was recently awarded the contract to replace an outdated Parking Access and Revenue Control system at seven City of Omaha, Nebraska owned and operated parking garages. The facilities are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week with over 5,000 parking spaces and 30 lanes. The scalable and modular HUB Parking Technology barcode system will include 15 lane entry stations, 15 lane exit stations, 3 fee computers, and 30 barrier gates. Access control equipment will be installed in the lanes and pedestrian door access points as well as an integrated billing and accounts receivable system. The HUB parking system will also include a Coding Station for mass validations, VoIP intercom, LED garage signage, and integrated mobile payment solution. Controlled from one central location, the HUB Janus Management System (JMS) will allow for streamlined management of all seven City of Omaha garages. Monitoring each facility, occupancy, and specific devices and peripherals will be available to the parking manager(s) at any time and any place.
Ace Parking, has recently expanded its hotel division by sixteen hotel properties across the nation during the fourth quarter of 2016 and first quarter of 2017. The properties are located in California, Washington, Georgia, Maryland, and a new market for Ace Parking, Las Vegas, Nevada. In the Northwest, Ace was awarded the parking contracts for the W Bellevue and the Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) Bellevue. In San Diego, California, Ace has been awarded the newly built Pendry Hotel. In Texas, Ace recently began operating valet parking services for Marriott Marquis Houston, located in downtown Houston across from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Ace will be providing parking management services for valet and self-parking functions at eight Caesars Entertainment properties on the Las Vegas Strip. The properties include: Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Bally’s Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas, The Cromwell Las Vegas, The LINQ, Paris Las Vegas, and Planet Hollywood. This partnership signals Ace Parking’s entry in the Las Vegas, Nevada market. In the Southeast, Ace will begin providing valet parking services for the Hyatt Regency Villa Christina @ Perimeter, in Atlanta, Georgia. In the Northeast, Ace will be providing valet and self-parking services this spring at The Hotel at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.

Goldsmith brings extensive experience working in government and corporate environments to deliver innovative change through the power of big data to benefit public and private sector organizations. He is currently the Daniel Paul Professor of the Practice of Government and the Director of the Innovations in American Government Program at Harvard‘s Kennedy School of Government. He is a nationally recognized expert on government management, reform and innovation. An accomplished author, Goldsmith also served as Deputy Mayor of New York City and Mayor of Indianapolis. He also serves in several strategic consultancy roles in the technology and government sectors.
Engineered Products Company (EPCO), a supplier of specialty lighting and wiring consumable products for electrical contractors, announced that it has appointed Jim Anderson, currently the company’s executive vice president, as Engineered Products Company’s next president effective immediately.
