Conduent Transportation CEO Mick Slattery has decided to leave Conduent to pursue other opportunities outside of the transportation industry. John Peracchio will serve as interim CEO for Conduent Transportation while an internal and external search is conducted. John joined Conduent in November 2018 as Transportation’s General Manager of Mobility Solutions and Strategy. Conduent Transportation has appointed Scott Doering as general manager, Road Usage Charging. Doering will lead Conduent Transportation’s tolling operations and will also shape its vision for the future.
Waze and Arrive gave introduced an enhanced Trip Planner feature called “GamePlan.” The feature is meant as a way to help fans get to their seats on time, and alleviate traffic and congestion around venues. “Every day, multiple times a day, tens of thousands of people travel to a venue or stadium at exactly the same time. That creates an incredible amount of congestion,” said Paulo Cabral, Head of Waze Global Events Partner Program.
Beginning today, drivers in downtown San Antonio can use a new mobile app, SAPark, to pay for parking. The app is powered by Passport. “Parking is often the first experience people have when they come downtown, and we recognize our role in ensuring it is a positive experience,” said John Jacks, center city development & operations director at the City of San Antonio. The City of Cheyenne is launching ParkCheyenne, an easy-to-use mobile app that was created by Passport to provide drivers in Cheyenne a mobile payment option for nearly 1,500 parking spots throughout the city. “Implementing technology into city parking delivers a more efficient experience for residents and visitors who will now be able to monitor and extend parking through the convenience of a mobile app,” said Marian Orr, mayor of Cheyenne. The City of New Buffalo, Mich. is also launching a mobile pay parking solution with the Passport Parking app. Now, visitors to city beaches can download the app and easily pay for parking without needing to wait in a long line or pay for a full day of parking when not needed.
The Pittsburgh Parking Authority has partnered with Flowbird Group to launch 30 upgraded parking terminals that will now be both cashless and paperless. The City of Pittsburgh is known in the parking industry as the first city in the country to transition to Pay-by-Plate as early as 2012. “We want to keep on the edge of technology and advancement for our city,” said David Onorato, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority.
The City of Trenton, New Jersey has begun replacing old, broken meters with Flowbird’s Strada multi-space pay stations. The solar powered Flowbird Strada Pay Stations will be installed on the majority of blocks and in downtown parking lots throughout Trenton. “This is something we’ve been trying to do in the Capital City for a long time, and we anticipate that the new parking system will have a very positive impact on downtown Trenton,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora.
Parker Technology has launched a pilot at the University of Michigan. The project is focused on two of U-M’s most challenging facilities – the Palmer and Fletcher structures. The two-day installation was completed by technicians from Traffic & Safety Systems, with the Parker Technology support crew also onsite. Now 100 percent of U-M’s intercom “help” calls from the Palmer and Fletcher garages are landing in the Parker 24/7 Call Center in Indianapolis.

The City of Milwaukee, WI recently enhanced its parking enforcement program with four electric parking enforcement vehicles. These vehicles will save the City $10,000 in fuel costs per year. The GO-4 EV parking enforcement vehicles were developed by Westward Industries. According to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, “The city wants to have less of a carbon footprint, less of a physical footprint and less physical wear and tear for our operators.”

Drivers will be able to find, book and pay for parking more easily by accessing available spaces through the ParkWhiz app, ParkWhiz.com, or by visiting AllentownParking.com and clicking the “Reserve Parking” button. Park Assist’s M4 Parking Guidance System is being installed into Park SFO’s new parking structure, which upon completion will contain over 1,500 parking stalls.
