Conduent Transportation CEO Mick Slattery has decided to leave Conduent to pursue other opportunities outside of the transportation industry. John Peracchio will serve as interim CEO for Conduent Transportation while an internal and external search is conducted. John joined Conduent in November 2018 as Transportation’s General Manager of Mobility Solutions and Strategy. Conduent Transportation has appointed Scott Doering as general manager, Road Usage Charging. Doering will lead Conduent Transportation’s tolling operations and will also shape its vision for the future.

Waze and Arrive gave introduced an enhanced Trip Planner feature called “GamePlan.” The feature is meant as a way to help fans get to their seats on time, and alleviate traffic and congestion around venues. “Every day, multiple times a day, tens of thousands of people travel to a venue or stadium at exactly the same time. That creates an incredible amount of congestion,” said Paulo Cabral, Head of Waze Global Events Partner Program.

Beginning today, drivers in downtown San Antonio can use a new mobile app, SAPark, to pay for parking. The app is powered by Passport. “Parking is often the first experience people have when they come downtown, and we recognize our role in ensuring it is a positive experience,” said John Jacks, center city development & operations director at the City of San Antonio. The City of Cheyenne is launching ParkCheyenne, an easy-to-use mobile app that was created by Passport to provide drivers in Cheyenne a mobile payment option for nearly 1,500 parking spots throughout the city. “Implementing technology into city parking delivers a more efficient experience for residents and visitors who will now be able to monitor and extend parking through the convenience of a mobile app,” said Marian Orr, mayor of Cheyenne. The City of New Buffalo, Mich. is also launching a mobile pay parking solution with the Passport Parking app. Now, visitors to city beaches can download the app and easily pay for parking without needing to wait in a long line or pay for a full day of parking when not needed. 

The Pittsburgh Parking Authority has partnered with Flowbird Group to launch 30 upgraded parking terminals that will now be both cashless and paperless. The City of Pittsburgh is known in the parking industry as the first city in the country to transition to Pay-by-Plate as early as 2012. “We want to keep on the edge of technology and advancement for our city,” said David Onorato, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority.

The City of Trenton, New Jersey has begun replacing old, broken meters with Flowbird’s Strada multi-space pay stations. The solar powered Flowbird Strada Pay Stations will be installed on the majority of blocks and in downtown parking lots throughout Trenton. “This is something we’ve been trying to do in the Capital City for a long time, and we anticipate that the new parking system will have a very positive impact on downtown Trenton,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora.

Parker Technology has launched a pilot at the University of Michigan. The project is focused on two of U-M’s most challenging facilities – the Palmer and Fletcher structures. The two-day installation was completed by technicians from Traffic & Safety Systems, with the Parker Technology support crew also onsite. Now 100 percent of U-M’s intercom “help” calls from the Palmer and Fletcher garages are landing in the Parker 24/7 Call Center in Indianapolis.

PayByPhone announced the launch of PayByPhone Maps in Seattle and surrounding areas including Bellingham. With PayByPhone Maps, Seattle area motorists turn on their location services and can see available parking spaces anywhere PayByPhone is available. “We are excited about this opportunity to improve and simplify the parking landscape in Seattle,” said Sam Zimbabwe, Seattle Department of Transportation Director. 

TIBA is launching its new “Engaged Parking Experience” product suite and will display it at the IPMI Conference & Expo. The new product suite includes new lane and payment equipment, cloud solutions for PARCS management, a new mobile-based platform for digital operators, and a cross-brand parking intelligence service. 

Complus Data Innovations (Complus) is celebrating its 33rd anniversary in parking management software and services. Since its opening in 1986, Complus has grown its client roster to more than 200 cities across 25 states. “In the past three decades, Complus has established itself as one of the most trusted brands in the parking industry and with each year that passes,” said Ariel Kunar, CEO of Complus.

The City of Milwaukee, WI recently enhanced its parking enforcement program with four electric parking enforcement vehicles. These vehicles will save the City $10,000 in fuel costs per year. The GO-4 EV parking enforcement vehicles were developed by Westward Industries. According to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, “The city wants to have less of a carbon footprint, less of a physical footprint and less physical wear and tear for our operators.”

The Allentown Parking Authority (APA) announced that they have selected ParkWhiz as its exclusive parking partner for all APA-owned decks and lots. Drivers will be able to find, book and pay for parking more easily by accessing available spaces through the ParkWhiz app, ParkWhiz.com, or by visiting AllentownParking.com and clicking the “Reserve Parking” button. Las Vegas has partnered with ParkWhiz to power event parking in the city. “Over the last few years, downtown Las Vegas has experienced significant growth, especially when it comes to events, and one of our biggest complaints is how to find convenient parking,” said Brandy Stanley, Parking Services Manager from the city of Las Vegas. 

CityLift Parking was granted Los Angeles Research Report (“LARR”) approval for its most recently completed project in Los Angeles. This is the first approval for a 3-level automated puzzle parking system in the City’s history. “CityLift is excited to bring its parking lift innovations to Southern California,” says Scott Gable, CEO of CityLift Parking. “This approval demonstrates the commitment the City of Los Angeles has to solving its parking challenges using automated parking.” 

INDECT Electronics and Distribution announces the installation of their UPSOLUT parking guidance system at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport in Lebanon. 142 camera sensors, monitoring 640 parking spaces, have been installed at this busy commercial hub located 9 km from the center of Beirut in Lebanon. INDECT Australasia, in collaboration with Access Parking Control Pty Ltd, jointly announces the installation of their world-class parking guidance system at four newly constructed train stations in North Western Sydney, Australia. A total of 1,849 ultra-sonic, single-space sensors were installed at Cherrybrook Station, Bella Vista Station, Kellyville Station and Hills Showground Station as part of the NSW Government’s $7.3bn rail project. INDECT Electronics and Distribution also announces the completion of the world’s largest camera-based parking guidance installation at Istanbul iGA Airport in Turkey. An unprecedented 3,300 Upsolut sensors covering more than 16,000 spaces and 550 wayfinding signs have been installed in five interconnected garages.

SpotHero announced further expansion into Toronto, Canada, with the appointment of General Manager Patrick Szwec, who will oversee Canadian operations and work with parking operators to drive revenue and enhance their customer experience. The company also launched a new partnership with Toronto Pearson International Airport, North America’s “Best Large Airport” as voted by passengers for two consecutive years.

Southland Printing Company, Inc. has promoted Charles McHenry to Sales Manager. McHenry has been with the company for 13 years. John Manno, Jr., President of Southland says that “Charles made this choice easy. He has always demonstrated superior customer service.” Charles will lead a sales team composed of five regional sales representatives: Kris Catch (West), John Cordaro (South), Tricia Rukstalis (North), John Beehler (North East), and Gary Flowers (South East). 

Newcastle based Smarter Cities is delighted to announce that they have been selected to partake in Phase 2 of Smart Dublin and Enterprise Ireland’s SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program to support Last Mile delivery in partnership with Dublin City Council and Belfast City Council. Grid Smarter Cities have been working with Dublin City Council to better understand and analyze potential use-cases for Kerb, their Intelligent Kerbside Management solution in the city center. 

European airport parking leader, ParkVia, has strengthened its partnership with Portugal’s flag carrier, TAP Air Portugal, following two consecutive contract renewals since its original agreement began in 2016. With a focus on supporting TAP Air’s expansion plans, successful collaboration has seen growth in parking booking numbers. ParkVia has also strengthened its partnership with Polish airport, Lodz, following a successful six-year collaboration. Having worked with the team at Lodz Airport on the marketing and online distribution of its parking products since 2013, ParkVia was commissioned in 2015 to build and deploy the airport’s own pre-booking engine, which has created a streamlined reservation process for customers looking for parking online.

Blink Charging and SP Plus are excited to announce that they have installed the fastest Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available for guests of Four Seasons Hotel Miami located in Brickell. The coordination with the three companies further reinforces Four Seasons’ commitment to sustainability and the increased driver demand for EV charging in urban areas. 

Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) project for San Antonio International Airport– Long Term Garage in San Antonio, TX. The airport is the main international airport in the Greater San Antonio area and serves more than 10 million travelers each year. Park Assist has also been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) for Park SFO, located in South San Francisco, California. Park Assist’s M4 Parking Guidance System is being installed into Park SFO’s new parking structure, which upon completion will contain over 1,500 parking stalls. Park Assist has also been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for the new La Estoa construction at the University of Monterrey (Universidad de Monterrey). Referred to as UDEM, the private Roman Catholic institution educates over 12,000 students, including high school students, undergraduates, and postgraduates. 

The Village of Scarsdale, NY has announced that they have chosen to enter into a partnership with Mobile Smart City Corp. to provide Pango Mobile Payment for parking.  “We are excited to be chosen to provide Pango to the citizens of the Village of Scarsdale,” stated John J. Incandela the President and CEO “Our customer friendly and easy to use app will be a fast and safe with a simple execution. The GEO-fencing technology will automatically find your Zone and then you just start your session.”

AVPMi is pleased to announce the addition of industry veteran Ken Shin as Vice President-Western U.S. Shin will oversee and direct the company’s business development across the western half of the United States, from Texas through California. He will also establish a new Los Angeles office, from which he will manage the company’s expansion throughout the region. “Ken Shin is a terrific addition to AVPMi,” said Selim Esen, CEO of AVPMi. “He will play a vital role in our continued expansion throughout the Western United States.”

AeroParker announces it has been contracted by Glasgow International Airport (GLA) to power their online and mobile pre-booking for car parking and ancillaries. DESIGNA Access Corporation has appointed Steve Gorski as CEO of its U.S. operations, DESIGNA USA. Steve will focus on driving the next chapter of DESIGNA’s market expansion. He has more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and executive management within the IT, IoT, security and parking markets. “With the addition of Steve, we gain a personality with outstanding sales and marketing expertise, and strong leadership qualities,” says Markus Plankensteiner, Senior Vice President Business Development, DESIGNA. 

FlexePark introduces a convenient parking lot now available – marked with newly installed signage – on Kirkwood Avenue in Bloomington, Illiniois. While FlexePark first launched in Indianapolis in 2017, this new FlexePark-partnered lot is among the first of its kind in the area. “We are very excited to support this new Kirkwood parking in Bloomington,” says FlexePark co-founder Michael Dowden. “This property is a great example of our goal of helping businesses maximize the use of their underutilized parking areas.”

Complete Coach Works (CCW) announced it will offer retrofits to allow ADA passengers to charge their wheelchairs at each tie down location in the bus. This upgrade will be available to all types of buses. “We are relentless in pursuing innovative options for the growth of our customers. This unique retrofit will allow agencies to offer riders who use wheelchairs or scooters an opportunity to charge en route,” said Brad Carson, Director of Sales and Marketing at CCW.
