PayByPhone now offers Atlanta residents and visitors easier access to more than 2,700 on-street spaces throughout the city. “Atlanta is a vibrant, growing hub with millions of residents and visitors driving our roads daily,” said Cynthia Curry, director of Smart Cities for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. “Better parking offerings and services will play a key role in creating a better experience for our residents and visitors and moving our smart initiatives forward.”

Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Prosperity Medical Center in Fairfax, Virginia. This facility is a state-of-the-art medical campus, housing various divisions of providers and catering to a high-volume of patients. Its parking facility, holding 467 parking bays, serves both patients and employees. Park Assist has also been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Ward Entertainment Center’s parking garage. As part of Ward Center Complex, one of the largest mixed-use developments in Honolulu, WEC houses a massive movie megaplex, Dave & Busters and many renowned eateries. The soon-to-be-released Sparx platform is Park Assist’s latest landmark achievement. Sparx offers clients the ability to stream data into their own platforms in real time — to view it immediately via customized reports and dashboards — and to effectively respond in the moment.

The City & County of Denver has awarded NextGen Parking a contract for replacement of the Parking Revenue Control System at Denver International Airport (DEN). The $10.6 million contract calls for installation of new Designa Abacus equipment in 139 public & employee parking lanes as well as the implementation of iLogs Parking HQ software for control room operations, on-line employee registration, frequent parkers, as well as pre-booking and payment for advanced parking reservations.

HonkMobile just launched an enhanced tool to help clients manage their parking services and grow their businesses. Parking lot operators and municipalities and universities that use Honk’s product suite to process parking payments now have access to Honk BackOffice 2.0, a tool that gives them improved transactional and financial reporting, as well as enhanced analytics into all parking sessions.

Barron Lighting Group, the parent company to Trace-Lite indoor and outdoor commercial and industrial lighting, announces the addition of the RHL Series High-performance LED Round Highbay. Barron Lighting Group also announces the addition of the S900C Series LED edge-lit combo exit sign. The new S900C Series LED edge-lit combo exit sign features an architectural aesthetic and is ideal for applications where functionality, performance and design meet.

TagMaster has received an order for delivery of 340 RFID systems for road toll projects in India. The order is worth approximately SEK 3 million and delivery will take place during the fourth quarter this year. TagMaster has also been granted a patent in the USA for a software solution for combining information from a number of antennas in electronic toll solutions and thereby increasing the efficiency of the system. 

Parking industry veteran and consultant Dave Altman today announces the launch of Parking Forum (www.ParkingForum.org), a source of knowledge for parking professionals and property owners. “It felt wrong to take consulting fees and just keep answering the same questions over and over. Our industry needs a repository of knowledge, so that’s why I am launching Parking Forum.”

LKCM Headwater Investments is excited to announce the formation of a new company, Building Controls & Solutions. This new company will include a family of three companies, including Relevant Solutions-Building Solutions division, Amcon Controls and INTEC Controls, to provide increased distribution of products, value-added services, and cloud solutions to help companies improve their HVAC, lighting, energy, security, garage and safety capabilities

FEIG ELECTRONIC, a global supplier of radio frequency identification (RFID) readers and antennas with fifty years of industry experience, announces deployment of the UCODE DNA RFID security and parking contactless identification solution in the Moscow International Business Center, known as Moscow-City, one of the world’s largest business district projects.

The Marquette DDA has partnered with Passport Parking to bring pay by phone parking to Downtown Marquette. Currently, Passport Parking is available at metered parking spaces on West Washington Street, as well as at the pay stations at the lower level of the Bluff Street ramp and North Main Street lot. Passport has also been named the Software Company of the Year at the 2019 NC Tech Awards. Passport has announced it ranked No. 214 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™ for 2019. Passport is recognized for its 510 percent increase in revenue over the past three years and is the top-ranking Charlotte-based company on the list.

SKIDATA announced that it is now the largest provider of Parking Access & Revenue Control (PARCS) equipment in the United States. The milestone resulted from the completed acquisitions and integration of three leading parking technology companies: Sentry Control Systems in Van Nuys, California; Harstad Controls in Minneapolis; and Protection Technologies, which had locations in Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Denver. SKIDATA announced that Seth Shurtleff has rejoined the company as VP of Business Development. In his new position, he will promote, grow, and develop SKIDATA’s product lines throughout the Southwestern United States, while supporting the company’s national marketing efforts.

North City (northcity.com), a mixed-use community near California State University San Marcos (csusm.edu), keeps growing. The recent additions include the university’s six-story Extended Learning building, a 700-space parking structure and a 66-unit apartment complex. Billy Lydon, the university’s project manager, was impressed by the performance of Bomel Construction Co. Inc. (bomelconstruction.com), builder of the six-level parking structure.

Intelligent mobility pioneers AppyWay and end-to-end fleet management firm Safo have announced a new partnership to bring accurate curbside data and better parking experiences to fleets. Fleets face daily parking challenges from navigating to a space to interpreting the local traffic regulations for that bay, all the while managing a hectic schedule against a congested road network. Both companies believe they can improve driver wellbeing and reduce emissions.

FlashParking announced the appointment of Neil Golson as their new Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships. In his new position at FlashParking, Golson will lead the company’s growth in the parking and mobility markets by crystalizing FlashParking’s vision for the role of parking within the smart city to life and by spearheading new partnerships. Before FlashParking, he served as Tesla’s Head of Marketing & Sales Operations.

Verra Mobility announced a partnership with Arrive. The new relationship will deliver a user-friendly and more comprehensive mobility solution that combines tolling and parking into a single intelligent platform for drivers. “As a company, we pride ourselves on our ability to simplify the growing and increasingly complex mobility ecosystem by creating an all-in-one platform, said David Roberts, president and CEO of Verra Mobility.

 

LocoMobi World Inc. is proud to announce the installation of their Pay-On-Foot Station, the LocoMobi Mojo Express and the LocoMobi TD81 Ticket Dispenser, at The Yacht Club at Brickell Apartments in the heart of downtown Miami. This equipment is tied into their proprietary LocoMobi Cloud Portal management software.

New pay-by-plate technology has been developed by Flowbird to make parking as convenient as possible for users of the Transperth SmartRider multimodal transport network in Western Australia. Flowbird is replacing the old pay and display machines with pay-by-plate technology to augment the existing network of SmartParker terminals that integrate with Transperth’s SmartRider ticketing system. Pango, a Mobile Smart City Company, is proud to announce that it is now expanding Parking Mobile Payments to more than 350,000 citizens in Spain. “We are very excited to launch our mobile payment platform at a new location in Spain, by partnering, for the first time with the City of Albacete,” stated John J. Incandela, President & CEO of Mobile Smart City Pango.

A company recognized among the top quarter of Fortune’s 2018 “100 Best Companies to Work For,” and one of the largest employers in the state of Arizona with more than 7,000 employees, selected San Francisco-based Parking Sense to maximize the efficiency of its parking garages. Parking Sense also announced an expanded partnership with Auckland’s Sylvia Park, the largest shopping and mixed-use center in New Zealand. The company now intends to add the technology to another 3,000 parking spaces as two major sites are constructed in early 2020 to complete the area.

ATS’ ParkingCloud™ is a single data platform that connects with vehicle-counting and other data-collection devices and then assimilates the information they gather via the Cloud. It gives customers the ability to manage their parking requirements, and updates them in real time. “Because it’s device-agnostic, ParkingCloud can work with any supplier’s detection and counting solutions,” says Andy Souders, CEO for ATS.

ParkVia, has agreed a new contract with long-standing German client, Allgäu Airport Memmingen. Following the airport’s review of its partner network, ParkVia was successfully retained by Memmingen following yet another term of impressive booking growth. Drivers parking up at Allgäu Airport Memmingen will benefit from a range of onsite options when reserving through ParkVia’s booking portal.

Fred Bredemeyer marked the end of his nearly 8-year tenure as President of Park One of Florida. “I am extremely proud of Park One’s accomplishments. SpotHero announced a partnership with The South Terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), giving travelers a simple way to find and reserve guaranteed, affordable, and conveniently located on-airport parking. Adding to nearly 100,000 parking spots serving the top 60 airports in North America, SpotHero is prepared for even the busiest holiday travel season.

ABM announced it has been awarded Tennessee Green Fleets Certification for outstanding leadership in fleet sustainability at Nashville International Airport (BNA). The ABM team operates a fleet of 28 shuttles and buses at the airport that all run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The move to CNG fuel vehicles has eliminated approximately 369 tons of CO 2 emissions per year, according to Tennessee Clean Fuels.

IDeaS Revenue Solutions announced it will implement its Car Park Revenue Management System (CPRMS) at Zurich Airport (ZRH). Zurich Airport boasted over 31 million passengers in 2018 and is Switzerland’s largest international airport. ZRH’s partnership with IDeaS will apply analytics to automate optimized pricing decisions and enhance revenue performance across the airport’s 15,000 public parking spaces.

SpotAngels announced its launch in Virginia Beach as part of a curb management project with the city. The goal of this partnership is to ease the parking headaches for both residents and visitors looking to enjoy the city. Over the past year, the app saved drivers in cities including New York, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia and more over $20M in parking tickets as well as time and money finding parking.

Winpark announced that it has been awarded the contract for Houston First Corporation’s (HFC) parking and transportation program management. “Winpark is the right company to handle the complexities associated with an account of this magnitude,” said Richard DiPietro, Winpark’s Managing Partner. “This partnership is a natural fit for a variety of reasons. We’re looking forward to demonstrating that for years to come.” 

Parker Technology announced an investment of $2M as a series seed round, led by Elevate Ventures and several investors, including a strategic investor. The influx of capital will be used for building out a fully robust product and expanding sales and marketing efforts. “We are very encouraged by Parker Technology and their role in helping to drive innovation in the rapidly changing parking industry,” said Chris LaMothe, CEO at Elevate Ventures. 

Wayne Dalton, a manufacturer of residential and commercial door solutions, has launched its first-ever high speed, high performance interior freezer and cooler door – Model 887 ADV-Xtreme. Model 887 ADV-Xtreme offers a variety of problem-solving features that help address various temperature-dependent site issues before they can occur. Wayne Dalton has also launched the Model 600 HC, a high cycle rolling grille that offers the same safety and security of a standard rolling grille, but with a cycle life warranty that lasts 15 times longer.

People and vehicle access control specialist Nortech is proud of its work with Freddie Howells, a young inventor. Howells has been working to create a facial recognition door lock for an elderly relative with dementia. After appearing in the news earlier in the year, Freddie was approached by Nortech to help him further develop his award-nominated home monitoring system.

ParkIndy, an Indianapolis consortium led by Conduent, received the 2019 Community Collaborator Award from the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention & Prevention (CHIP). The annual award recognizes ParkIndy for its work in support of Street Reach Indy, a local campaign that aims to improve the lives of the city’s homeless. Conduent, working with partners including Flowbird and ParkMobile, facilitates public donations through parking meters and app payments. 

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced that the Automated People Mover (APM) project, a 2.25-mile elevated electric train system that will transport travelers in and out of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Central Terminal Area (CTA), has hit another significant milestone with the start of pile construction. The first piles for the East Station in the CTA and the Intermodal Transportation Facility – West (ITF-West) station off 96th Street were successfully completed.

 

Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions’ polarized camera technologies, which eliminate glare to more reliably see into the vehicle, will be at the heart of its Gulf Traffic 2019 demonstrations. Sony’s ITS camera and software development kit not only allow authorities to more easily identify dangerous drivers, but also spot illegal behavior such as mobile phone use.
