SKIDATA Inc. has named Darrell Smithson President, North America. Smithson will oversee all of SKIDATA’s operations throughout the United States and Canada. “Darrell Smithson is a respected and innovative leader,” said David Luken, CEO of parent company SKIDATA GMBH.

Honk and CityParking Inc. have partnered to bring contactless parking payments to Richmond. In response to COVID-19, CityParking Inc. has removed physical pay stations and replaced them with Honk’s tap-to-pay smart stations. FlashParking has completed the acquisition of Mountain Parking Equipment, a Denver, Colorado-based company that has served hundreds of customers over the last 25 years. The deal expands FlashParking’s customer base in the Southwest and Mountain regions.

In addition, Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System contract for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. 

World of Concrete has rescheduled WOC 2021 from January to June. WOC will now take place June 8-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. “We have a commitment to our exhibitors and attendees to provide a valuable and productive face-to-face experience at WOC each year,” said Jackie James, Group Director, World of Concrete.

SP Plus Corporation announced its selection to provide parking management and operations at Laredo International Airport in Laredo, Texas. The Airport Division at SP+ took over the airport’s in-house parking operations on October 1, 2020, for LRD’s Hourly/Daily and Economy lots.

TEZ and T2 have partnered to deliver two solutions that combine TEZ’s  app-free and contactless mobile payment platform, TEXT2PARK, with T2’s Iris parking management software and T2 Luke Pay Stations. 

The city of Houston is set to receive the first Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Buy America-compliant mid-size autonomous bus in the U.S. Jointly developed by Phoenix Motorcars and EasyMile, the self-driving bus will be deployed in real-life traffic conditions. Phoenix Motorcars’ ZEUS Zero Emission Shuttles was selected as an eligible vehicle by the Morongo Basin Transit Authority and California Association for Coordinated Transportation purchasing cooperative. 

Chicago-based Legacy Parking Company is pleased to announce the hiring of Glenn Kurtz as Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, effective October 15.  Kurtz is a 30-year parking and transportation veteran and will be working out of Legacy’s Atlanta office.

Parker Technology is providing 24/7 customer support for six City of Columbia parking garages. Residents and visitors in the historic City of Newport can now use Passport Parking to pay for parking from their smartphones. Students and faculty at Utah Valley University can now pay to park using the Passport Parking mobile app. The company saw ample growth throughout Q3 including a partnership with Google Maps to create a new digital parking payment feature in Austin, Texas.

Westward Industries recently expanded its service of the San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency with the addition of 19 new GO-4 enforcement vehicles. The SFMTA has utilized the GO-4 vehicles for parking enforcement duties for over 25 years.

ParkMobile announced that it has reached the 20 million user milestone. ParkMobile launched in North America in 2008 and it took the company nearly 5 years to acquire its first million users. Today, ParkMobile adds 1 million new users every 60 to 70 days.

The collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genova on 14 August 2018 which killed 43 people will remain in the memory of the Italian people. The newly erected San Giorgio Bridge has a comprehensive system of structural monitoring. Four Tattile Vega Basic cameras are mounted above the bridge to monitor the traffic flow and detect license plates.

Phoenix Parking Solutions has converted all of its parking locations to a cloud-based software called Oobeo that streamlines parking operations through web, mobile and SMS technology. This contactless technology makes it even easier for residents or guests to use their mobile phones to gain access or pay for parking.

Endera announced the delivery of 18 all-electric passenger shuttles to ACE Parking, for use at the San Diego International Airport. By the end of 2020, the entire 29 all-electric vehicles will be delivered, making it the nation’s largest deployment of an all-electric fleet at a U.S. airport.
