New parking system a big hit with beachgoers of southwest Michigan

Before this summer season, the beach communities of South Haven and New Buffalo, MI, saw the need to expand on how beachgoers paid for parking and implemented changes.
In South Haven, the North and South beach parking areas were completely re-vamped. As part of the renovated parking lots, patrons can now pay using new Cale multispace parking terminals provided by Total Parking Solutions of Downers Grove, IL.
The paystations accept cash, tokens and credit cards, as well as a pay-by-cellphone option. The new technology allows city staff to enforce remotely via a web-enabled device or PC utilizing the wireless management system.
New Buffalo followed suit, also turning to Total Parking Solutions. In place of attendant and access gates, the city installed a Cale Compact XL and Amano entrance and exit gates. Bills and coins and credit card payment are accepted. This will free up the attendant to patrol the parking lot and assist with traffic control.
