Angelina Gloria Bruno Manno, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as Co-Owner and Secretary/Treasurer of Southland Printing Co. in Shreveport, LA, passed away on Feb. 19.
She will be dearly missed by family, friends, her “Southland family,” the citizens of the Shreveport-Bossier community, and business acquaintances.
“Angie,” as she was affectionately known, received her undergraduate degree from Centenary College of Louisiana. Upon graduation, she stayed in the community, where she taught Home Economics and worked in the banking industry.
In 1960, she joined forces with her husband, John A. Manno Sr., to launch Southland Printing to serve the ever-expanding needs of the parking industry. Over these 56+ years, she was instrumental in Southland’s growth and reputation.
In December 2013, she also assumed the role of mentor and business advisor to their son, John A. Manno Jr., until her passing.
Angie was very active in the operations at Southland Printing and attended many industry conventions throughout the years.
She loved extending “Southern Hospitality” to customers and vendors visiting the Shreveport plant, as well as making sure the employees at Southland were treated to donuts, cakes and delicious food at the many company celebrations that she planned.
She also was an active member of many local organizations, as a member of the North Shreveport Women’s Club, a friend of the Strand Theater, and a supporter of the Shreveport Opera and Shreveport Symphony. Her Catholic teachings were an important part of her upbringing and her life.
She will definitely be missed, but the values and standards established by both Angie and Johnny will be carried on by John Manno Jr., “Jay” Manno and her Southland family.
