Parking Exhibition Slates Boot Camp for Newcomers

New this year at the Parking Industry Exhibition will be the Parking Boot Camp. This is a special program being held on Sunday, April 7, before the formal opening of PIE. It’s designed for those new to parking, and might be a good refresher for those who are not.
Whether you manage a garage or have someone manage it for you, this program will provide you with the information to do your job better, and prepare you to handle those “crises” and questions that arise daily.
The four-hour program is divided into seven sections designed to provide basic, specific information about these areas of the parking industry:

* Operations.
* Safety/Security.
* Personnel.
* Contracts.
* Equipment Maintenance.
* Revenue Control/Auditing.
* Garage Maintenance.

The Boot Camp seminars will be moderated by Charles Cullen, formerly of the City of Cincinnati and now with the Consulting Engineer’s Group. Seminar leaders include revenue and audit expert Dennis Cunning; Robert Milner from the University of Maryland on operations; security consultant Jim Johnson; Charlie Munn of the Parking Network on personnel and hiring; operator Wendell Bunting on contracts; equipment expert and dealer Shawn Russell on maintenance; and consultant Wil Van Dyke on garage maintenance.
Cullen has been working his seminar leaders over the past few weeks and feels they are ready to turn out some well-trained parking troops. “We have a good team of instructors and a great program. This is going to be a parking event to be remembered.”
This is new, it’s hot and it’s focused so you will get precisely the information you need — not generalities. Come in on Saturday night, save on airfare and join us for the Parking Boot Camp! You will be pleasantly surprised.
The Parking Industry Exhibition will be held April 7-10, 2002, at the Holiday Inn O’Hare International Hotel and Convention Center in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont. Over 500 attendees from across North America are expected at this year’s event, the fourth held in the same venue.
The three-day event will include tours of local parking installations, seminars on topics from garage security to maintenance, from operations to on street enforcement and collection issues.
More than 100 exhibitors from all walks of parking life will be on hand and will have more than 24 hours of exhibit time to show their wares and discuss the needs of individual attendees.
