At the last Parking Industry Exhibition, film crews from John Wilson’s HBO Documentary Series “How to by John Wilson” invaded the exhibit hall and interviewed a number of exhibitors. The resulting feature became a large part of the series that aired in December titled “How to Find a Spot.”
Focused on New York City, the half-hour documentary takes a humorous look at parking in the Big Apple, including how people ‘save’ spaces, the attitudes of hard core New Yorkers regarding on-street parking, and in-depth interviews with ‘real’ denizens of the city. Included is a long segment featuring PIE 2021 in Dallas. The longest part of the feature is an interview with “The Quirky World of Parking” author, Larry Cohen. The series is on HBO and recommended viewing for all parking industry members.
This is an excellent view of our industry as seen through the eyes of the average citizen. We recommend watching the entire series, not just the segment about PIE. Wilson does an excellent job of including humor and poignancy (particularly a section on our ‘last’ parking spot) and an in -depth report on car-shaped caskets.
