Smart Parking Limited, a global provider of parking technology and management services, announced its acquisition of Peak Parking for USD$36 million on February 17. Smart Parking acquired 100% of the issued capital in Peak Parking, which focuses on parking garage management, valet parking, special events parking, enforcement services and consulting services. Peak Parking manages 134 sites across multiple states in the United States.
Premium Parking, a provider of free-flow parking solutions, announced the launch of its on-demand payment system at loanDepot park, home of the Miami Marlins. Premium Parking’s technology will enable fans to drive into designated parking areas, park, and use their mobile devices to pay for parking using their license plate as their credential. The payment system also provides real-time data and analytics, enabling loanDepot park to monitor parking occupancy and make informed decisions to optimize parking operations.
Parking operator LAZ Parking and EV charging software solutions provider Epic Charging entered into a strategic development agreement to accelerate the nationwide deployment of Level 2 EV charging solutions across LAZ's extensive real estate portfolio. This partnership will integrate Epic Charging's charging station management system into LAZ's national network of parking facilities, with a goal of electrifying 50,000 parking spaces during the next 5 years.

The 3-level automated parking system includes 100% EV charging capabilities, the first of its kind in the U.S., according to the company.
EVPassport, a provider of enterprise EV charging solutions, and CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, announced an agreement to provide EV charging solutions, with a focus on multifamily and hospitality properties in North America. Under the agreement, CBRE will support the deployment of more than 3,600 EV chargers across more than 600 strategic sites in the United States. This collaboration will enable property owners and operators to provide frictionless charging to residents and tenants.
PARKPLUS, a provider of high-density parking systems, has completed the installation of a PARKPLUS AGV Automated Parking System at a 35-story luxury condominium building on New York’s Upper East Side. Featuring 30 spaces across two subterranean floors, the system uses free-roaming, self-charging, omni-directional robots to store and retrieve vehicles from parking trays, obviating the need for traditional drive aisles.
Parking and mobility technology provider Flash announced that current president Chris Donus has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO). Donus joined Flash as chief financial officer (CFO) in 2023 and became president in June 2024. Dan Sharplin, who has served as Flash CEO since 2019, will continue as executive chairman of the board of directors.
With Shell Recharge shutting down its EV charger software on April 30, leaving hundreds of EV charging stations across the U.S. inoperable, EV charger solutions provider Zevtron, mobile parking payment products provider ParkMobile, and consulting firm Athena Partners Strategy Group have formed a strategic alliance to provide a solution for affected site owners and EV drivers. The collaboration will deploy Zevtron’s EV charging software across the former Shell Recharge network, restoring full operational capacity to these chargers. ParkMobile’s payment platform will be integrated, enabling drivers to pay for charging. Athena Partners Strategy Group will provide strategic consulting and project management, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term sustainability for EV site hosts.
The Miami Beach City Commission appointed William MacDonald director of the Parking Department in the City of Miami Beach, Florida. MacDonald, who will begin his role in May, is currently serving as the director of transportation and parking services at the University of Florida. He previously served as director of parking and ground transportation services at Denver International Airport and oversaw all off-street parking assets for the Department of Transportation in Pasadena, California.
The City of Salisbury, Maryland, announced a new partnership with parking management provider T2 Systems to enhance downtown parking by modernizing parking operations with enhanced digital tools for permit holders and daily parkers. With this partnership, the city will implement an automated permit management and mobile payment system and install license plate recognition (LPR) technology to aid in enforcement. Parking violations will be automatically issued if payment has not been made for permits, garage parking, or if a vehicle is parked for more than 2 hours on-street.
The Bethlehem Parking Authority (BPA) announced the introduction of PayByPhone as an additional mobile parking app provider, offering customers more flexibility and convenience when managing their parking experience in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. With the integration of PayByPhone alongside the existing provider ParkMobile, the BPA has established an open dual-app environment that enables users to choose the mobile parking platform that best suits their needs.
PayByPhone also announced its appointment by the Parking Authority of Baltimore City to its parking operations. PayByPhone is now available at parking meters at city-owned parking lots and at on-street metered parking spaces downtown in the Central Business District of Baltimore, Maryland, and will be rolled out in Fells Point, Federal Hill, as well as in and around Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor area.

On February 27, the American Trucking Associations commended Representatives Mike Bost (R-Illinois) and Angie Craig (D-Minnesota) for introducing the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act. The bipartisan legislation would authorize $755 million in competitive grant funding to expand commercial truck parking capacity across the United States.

Parking technology provider Designa announced that it has been selected to implement a ticketless parking solution at the Düsseldorf Airport, in Düsseldorf, Germany, eliminating the need for 10 million paper tickets annually. The company also was selected to provide the parking management system for the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI), which is scheduled to open outside the Australian city of Sydney in 2026.
European parking operator APCOA announced the appointments of Julian de Unamuno as its new CFO and Mike Clarke as its new chief human resources officer (CHRO), effective March 3, 2025. de Unamuno joins APCOA from the testing, inspection, and certification company Applus+, where he served as CFO. Prior to his role at Applus+, de Unamuno was CFO and chief operating officer (COO) at Empark in Spain. He succeeds Nick Pulford, who served as interim CFO. Clarke most recently served as COO and CHRO at motorcycle and scooter manufacturer Hero MotoCorp in India.
