Parking problems. The OC (That’s Orange County for your  TV challenged out there) has decided to allow cities to begin issuing parking permits for neighborhoods…BUT…only after they try everything possible to get more spaces, including making people clean out garages and park their cars in them. (Now how the heck are they going to do that)

I can see the police hammering on a person’s door at 3 AM

"OK, Open your garage. We want to see if there is a car in it, of if its full of last year’s Christmas Decorations!!!"

Seriously, sports fans, how do you enforce such a rule.

Of course your humble blogger has a solution — charge for onstreet parking. If people knew that had to pay to park in front of their houses, they would make a choice, clean the garage or pay to park. The city wins either way. Junkers would be junked. Spaces cleaned out, and people would park their cars on their property.

Read the article — my fool proof solution wasn’t mentioned. No political will in the big OC.
