Cadillac Michigan, has it all figured out. They are raising the price of overnight parking and an assessment on the businesses so they can afford to plow the surface lots downtown while keeping the parking free to the people who park there.
Now that makes a lot of sense. Lets penalize the businesses and once again not require the people that use the services to pay their own way. I’m sure the merchants will say that they want parking to remain free. But that’s eyewash. The charges are there somewhere, in the additional penny cost on the burger and fries, or the 10 cents on the can of soup.
In La Canada, California the city council is considering banning on street parking overnight because, from what I can tell, it looks bad. I am once again certain that if they charged for overnight parking and put the money back into the infrastructure, their constituents would be extremely happy.
