I was walking the floor at the CPPA event today and ran into Matt Silverman of PayLock.
He told me that their company allows scofflaws who are "booted" to remove the boot with a phone call. The person calls their center and gets a code that they then input and the boot is removed. However they have to leave a credit card to cover the fine. Fair enough.
He said that once in a while the person doesn’t have the credit card or are over limit so they set up a three way call with a friend who foots the bill.
In this case, the three way was with a student’s father in…..India. I’ll bet it wasn’t just the money, but the call at 3 AM that raised the hackles of this parent.
