Hans Fairmont

I received word today that Hans Fairmont, German parking operator and promoter of various revenue control technologies, passed away August 15. You can read a short bio here.

I knew Hans and interviewed him a number of times for PT. He was truly a gentleman, and in many ways before his time.

When I talked to Hans in the 1990s he was promoting the "chip coin" technology. He loved the concept that would replace tickets in parking garages. He felt tickets were an environmental issue and also he thought the elegant simplicity, as he called it, of the transport mechanism in the dispensers and acceptors was something the market needed. The market just wasn't ready. Today we are seeing the technology installed in various sites around the world.

Hans was deeply involved in the parking industry, being an international member of the NPA and a member of honor of the European Parking Association

Rest in Peace
