I have been reading headlines from the MSM lately and find certain words creeping into them. Words like the ones in caps above. What I then find is that the article has nothing to do with news, but is simply an opinion or worse, a piece of fiction that is created out of whole cloth simply to either titillate or advance someone’s agenda.
It reminds me of the scene from the Music Man where con man Harold Hill tells the parents of the children in River City to beware of certain words creeping into their son’s and daughter’s conversations, words like “swell.” I’m here to tell you to beware of certain words creeping into headlines, words like “frightenly, maybe, coming, could, can’t rule out, and veiled.” Don’t forget those in the headline above.
I suggest that if you see any of these words in a headline, you read no further. Don’t waste your time. It is most likely fiction.
Better yet, turn off news for a few weeks. Check your favorite news site once a day to see if were are still here, then turn it off and get on with your life.
