Mound City MN is changing its zoning laws to make parking spaces 9×18 feet rather than 10×20. It was a 4-1 vote — read about it here. They all seemed reluctant to vote in favor of the change but did so as it would "increase the number of parking spaces in the town"
Lets see, to increase the number of spaces, you would have to have a minimum of 10 spaces side by side. Then when you restriped you could put 11 where there were 10 before. I guess the question is, how many places are there in the town are there 10 spaces side by side. The next question is: "Is the number of spaces garnered by the new law worth the pain of the citizen, parked between two SUVs, who is trying to get out of his or her car without "dinging" the cars parked along side.?"
I do need some help with this one. Anybody know if this makes sense at all?
