I got a number of emails titled “Have you seen this?”
BUDAPEST . Multiparker 730
It’s a PR Video from Wohr on one of their systems installed in the town Square in Budapest. It appears to have gone viral in the parking industry.
What was surprising was that the people who sent it to me were longtime members of the parking industry and were “amazed” by the technology. Don’t get me wrong – the system shown is a good one and
deserved of praise, but it certainly wasn’t something “new” and “amazing.” There have been systems like the one shown working in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and yes, here in the US for years. There are similar systems in Hoboken (yes and working well), New York City, Boston, and Washington DC plus there are systems under construction in Philly, Boston and NY. I have reported on these systems in PT and on the web for years. I have seen them running in Dubai, Hoboken, New York, Edinburgh, Paris, and DC. They are ubiquitous in Europe and on every street corner in Japan. China supposedly has thousands of them, but I believe that a decimal place or two may have been moved in the translation, but there is no doubt they have many.

John, this vid has been floating around for a couple of years, as you say, what’s new? If anyone needs a contact at Wohr I can provide. The systems work pretty well.
We really must start paying attention to what is happening in the world.
