I just got off the phone from an interview with Bernard Lacoste, CEO of Zeag. The complete story will run in August Parking World and Probably September PT. I have known Bernard for years and we see each other at trade shows around the globe. The lead for the article will be something like:
“Software is not easy and it is expensive. Revenue control manufacturers are becoming software houses. As systems evolve, the price of hardware is going down, but the price of software is going up. We must have salespeople who understand the industry requirements. We must not provide what is “nice to have” but what the customer “needs to have.”
Smart guy, Bernard Lacoste.

Dear JvH,
couldn’t agree more with Bernard Lacoste. This process started in the early 80’s when the Zeag Group provided Manchester International Airport with a DEC MicroVax based on-line parking and revenue control system, presumably at that time the worlds most comprehensive parking solution.
The days of the HW sellers are really long gone.
