Jury Duty

Jury Duty

Sorry I missed blogging yesterday — I was called for jury duty. The County of Los Angeles has a great system for jury duty. You simply call the night before to see if they need you. If you go five days, you don’t have to serve. I had made it for four, but got called on the fifth day. Actually I don’t mind serving, but sometimes the court’s schedule and mine don’t jibe.

This was one of those times. I simply asked to come back another time and they said sure. However, if I don’t serve next time, the judge will send a marshal after me. Fair enough.

Some people think that its a game and try all sorts of ways to get out of service. I don’t. I think it is a duty and one should serve on a jury. Inconvenient? Sometimes. But if you have enough notice, you can make time for the service.

Now I will go in November and be sure that I have kept my calendar clear.
