Massport at Logan in Boston is reducing the close in parking to the same price as the discount parking during the holidays. HUH — does this make sense at all.
Well, it may. It seems that during the holiday periods business travel is down and business parkers who will pay the higher price aren’t parking in the close in structures. Sooooo the discount lots are full to overflowing and the structures are empty.
Officials are lowering the price to entice those who would normally park in the outer lots into the structures. During past holidays the outer parkers would leave the airport completely and park in (shudder) off airport commercial lots. This new policy is to keep that business in the airport.
Watch out, off airport owners, airports are beginning to think like business people.
