As I was walking over to the bus stop here in
London
I noticed this
traffic warden writing a ticket to the owner of this scooter. Seems the scooter
is parked illegally…sliced in between the two cars. In
Italy
, its home, that probably
would be a perfect spot. Not so in
London
.
It’ll cost plenty – perhaps as much as $100.
Check out the sign for the parking lot nearby. I can see why
the scooter might want to take a chance. Notice that the numbers are rather off the chart – And it’s a bit
confusing. It seems to be open ended. Four pounds 20 an hour, 8.40 minimum. If
you cut a deal up front, the sign seems to imply and are going to be there over
6 hours, you can pay the daily rate of 25 pounds. I checked with the attendant and its actually
a daily maximum of 25 pounds. Doesn’t
sound like a lot? If you do the exchange
rate of approximately 2 to one. That’s 50 bucks for six hours. Or $16 for the right to entry. Oh you can’t see the other sign, the one that
says “lot full.” Not too shabby.

I know parking can be a real problem, I just thought I’d mention that if you actually live in London it’s not too tricky to obtain a parking permit for not a lot over 3 months or a year.
The following website has links to parking information for each of the 33 London boroughs:
