Long Beach looking at Automated Parking

The City of Long Beach, California is looking into a deal with a manufacturer of Automated Parking garages to provide additional parking inventory to the city. Sources in the city hall told me that the idea was that the supplier would build the garage, the city would run it, but the supplier would keep the profit for a number of years and then give the asset to the city.

The city is now researching the entire process including the issues  of electrical costs and maintenance. Since so few of these facilities have been built in the US data is scarce.  The only other garage of any size built in the country has been the Hoboken facility in New Jersey.
