A group of actors have been putting on Shakespeare in parking garages in New York. They use spaces that have not been taken, move when cars are going in or out, and generally behave like good citizens who are bringing art to the great unwashed.
Now the City want’s to charge them for the spaces they use, and require insurance and the like. The actors will pay it, but considering that they are in a parking lot to begin with, the don’t have a lot of money. They tried to negotiate with the city, but to no avail.
I wonder what would happen if they tried to use a private parking facility? If they cut a deal with LAZ or Icon, think of the great PR for the parking facility.
Who knows what a phone call might bring.
